CCM singer/songwriter Michael Gungor was raised in Wisconsin, where he spent his formative years leading worship services with his pastor father. He studied jazz at Western Michigan and North Texas universities, and eventually settled in Michigan and joined the teen ministry Acquire the Fire. It was there that he formed the self-described "liturgical post-rock" outfit the Michael Gungor Band and began releasing albums, including 2003s Bigger Than My Imagination and 2006s Ancient Skies. Gungor and his wife, Lisa, eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and founded a community of believers called Bloom. During that time he also shortened the band name to Gungor, releasing the album Beautiful Things under the new moniker in 2010. The intricate Ghosts Upon the Earth arrived the following year and earned two Grammy nominations for Best Gospel Song and Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi

As a musician I am a pretty harsh critic and I absolutely adore Gungor. I actually remember them being the Micheal Gungor band and watching them live play wrap me in your arms. It was probably the first time I was able to really indulge in worship, and since I'm always on stage during worship at m church. I would love for them to come to my church. Any tips on making that happen?
Don't forget he wrote I Am A Friend Of God and toured with Israel Houghton on the Live in Africa albums. He served as a Worship Leader too here in Grand Rapids Michigan
I first saw him leading worship at the church I went to in Tulsa, OK. His dad still pastors there and has since at least '99. He also went to ORU in Tulsa when I went there. I'm not sure how all that got left out of his bio.
I remember thinking that he was going to be the next Phil Keaggy way back then.
Hearing Michael play at Bloom on Christmas Eve had to be one of the best kept secrets around. A gifted man who is truly following his calling in this life.
