A Nashville-based musician with a Midwestern upbringing, Griffin House spikes his pop/rock songwriting with a dose of rootsy, atmospheric Americana. House was born and raised in Ohio, where he eventually discovered his musical gifts while attending Miami University in Oxford. Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Woody Guthrie, and the Mermaid Avenue albums by Wilco and Billy Bragg, House embraced the craft of songwriting and issued several albums as an independent artist. His mix of sentimental melodies, ambient guitars, and sparse arrangements attracted attention from Nettwerk, a Vancouver-based record label, and House soon partnered with the label's American branch to issue Lost & Found in 2004. Several self-released albums followed, and House signed with RCA before issuing Flying Upside Down, a folk-rock album recorded with members of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers. Although originally available via iTunes in 2007, the record was released in stores early the following year, followed in 2010 by his second album for the Nettwerk label, The Learner. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi
I can't say enough good things about your music. I became hooked in 2007 after my aunt started dating my now uncle who is a friend of yours from college. You have helped me throught some rough times in my life thanks Griffin. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Griffin. Your music got me through a divorce (married 20 years) and became several of the our songs with my new fiancee and I. Thank you for writing words that expressed my heart's pain, healing and new love. Forever grateful to you!

My first listen to Griffin House. Will seek out more of his work. That Guy That Says Goodbye To You is so simple and genuine; just love his phrasing and the understated production. Sweet!

I had never heard of this artist until three minutes ago. Is everything as good as this one song?

i first checked out griffen after hearing "when the time is right" on an episode of brothers and sisters. he might also come up on pandora's "mat kearney" radio, a similar artist who i think is great. why he's not mainstream yet is a mystery to me!

Love him. I was working at a little shop in chicago and a woman came in and gave me a sample cd saying her record company was going to be putting out his new cd. and i totally fell in love with that sample cd.
Griffin is from my hometown (went to school w/my little brother). Comes home every summer to do a free performance. We love him; and I was thrilled to find him here, too!
