Singer/songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he began touring with a band at the age of 16 before eventually relocating to Colorado to hone his chops as a solo artist. Influenced by the rural blue-collar lyricism of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Joe Phelps, and Leonard Cohen, it wasn't long before Isakov's own blend of dusty folk and moody Americana began turning heads. He released his debut album, Rust Colored Stones, in 2003, followed by Songs for October (2005), That Sea, the Gambler (2007), and The Empty Northern Hemisphere (2009), the latter of which spawned the single "If I Go, I'm Goin," which appeared in the fourth season of the popular Showtime series Californication. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi

First heard this on Radio Paradise. If you're into discovering new music you should check it out ... music handpicked and played by real humans. They play a very wide variety of styles, probably won't like everything you hear, but they have great musical taste IMO.

He is incredible live-- he performed in Vail, Colorado at a Performing Arts Center with his guitar, a violin/mandolin player and cellist, and it was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard! I am so excited for him to release the new album he has been working on!

I am honestly shocked and so happy to hear Isakov on my Pandora station! He performed at an up and coming blue grass festival by Colorado Springs that I was able to see back in 2010.... and now he's being played on Pandora! How great!?
