What can you say about In the Mood that hasn't been said a thousand times already. Artie Shaw had first crack at this (there is a live recording from the Phontastic series, I think). But, clearly Miller saw the song's potential. What's disappointin g about this Bluebird 78 release is how poorly it was recorded. Something wasn't working that day: many think there was turntable flutter which made the horns sound flat. The version from the movie soundtrack of Sun Valley Serenade is great

This would play endlessly in Tom and Jerry, even at three years old I adored this kind of music which I later found to be jazz. A great classic show with astonishing music. Too bad this generation has no value of it.
