I'm just happy that this song is playing for me on a sunny day :D It makes me think that George really is peering down from above

Back in the fall of 1969 and spring of 1970 I was a Rat (freshman) at the Virginia Military Institute. On nice days, when we formed ranks in front of barracks an upperclassman with a powerful stereo would crank this up, filling the air with magic that invariably lifted my spirits. Every time I hear it I think of gray uniforms, green grass, blue skies and the statue of Stonewall Jackson overseeing the valley of Virginia. Probably most folks don't have quite these associations with the song but th
Thank you George for warming my heart and for sharing your musical talent with the world ~ with sincere appreciation!

This song always brings me back to my early years, 6, or 7 yrs. old, sitting in the kitchen eating cereal for breakfast racing the clock to get out the door in time to make school on time, perfect late spring, early summer song, the nights are very cool, yet the day light is very warm. Gives me goose bumps. DE
Love this acoustic version. As time goes on, I appreciate George's work more and more. One of George's best compositions and one of the Beatles' best recordings too. Never tire of hearing this song.
Thanks for the shout Rebekah, your right that my interpretation is not definitive, and thanks for the blessing. So many praise The Lord for the sun and The Son. The Word says that nature declares His majesty. The sun is the most noticable, consistant object I guess. Morag, Why a Leo? Rev Rob
Just reinforces my firm belief that Jesus was a Leo and they moved his birthday to coincide with the winter solstice festivals of various pagan religions.
Well Robert, if you want to find that in it, God Bless you, but it's also completely consistent with the centuries long tradition of English poets praising the literal return of the sun evry srping. One of the beautiful things about good, simple verse is that there is room in it for literal and metaphorical meaning on many levels.
