Garnet Rogers

Best known as the brother of Canadian folk singer Stan Rogers, Garnet Rogers has enjoyed a substantial musical career of his own. He began experimenting with various musical instruments at the age of five, starting off with the guitar and graduating to the fiddle and flute. In the early 1970s, he and his brother joined Cedar Lake, but only lasted a year; together with that band's bassist, the two brothers broke away to form a trio. Involvement with two documentaries for the Canadian Broadcasting Company led to the material that went into Garnet and Stan's first album Fogarty's Cove. The Rogers' songs dealt with the lore and life of Canadian working folk and struck a chord across that nation. Several albums followed, including Turnaround and Northwest Passage. In 1983, Stan died in a tragic plane accident, leaving Garnet to carry the torch alone. His first album, entitled, simply Garnet Rogers appeared in 1984 and was followed by a successive album every two years into the 1990s. In 2002 Red House Records released a collection of Rogers best material, All That Is. Despite the fact the Rogers has a large American following among folk fans, the record was his first to be released by an American company. ~ Leon Jackson, Rovi

Garnet Rogers is an amazingly talented singer/songw r i t e r and truly one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Don't miss him in concert. He's remarkably talented with a wit like no other!

After All is by far one of the most gorgeous, brilliant, and heartwarming songs ever written. Thank you, Garnet Rogers, for creating such fantastic music.

I saw Garnet at the Tractor 6-7 years ago!!! I if you hear of him coming to town, don't miss him!!
don't get it
Have seen Garnet once or twice a year New England venues since the 80's. Sad to miss tonight's Peterboro NH benefit due to a prior commitment
I always thought of Garnet as Stan's lesser brother. No more! These tracks are all amazing. Listening to Black Eyed Susan & Like A Diamond Ring. Terrific! Thanks Pandora.
Garnet drives Canada and the US in a Volvo full of guitars. He can play. Hope to hear him in Michigan sometime soon.

I've seen Garnet Rogers live two times; he gives an extraordinar y deeply felt show. He is far more than just the brother of Stan Rogers; he is his own performer.
I thought I was listening to Hank Cramer (if you like Garnet, check out Hank). What a nice discovery - after all these years.
he has a low deep voice his style reminds me of the old shanty sea music. I love to stop & really listen, the stories they tell.
Met Garnet with Archie Fisher back when his mother ran the record lable. Still getting better.
"After All" (Lyrics by Lawson) has kept me going many a dark night

Nice instrumental s but the vocals suck. How about making what you are saying understandab l e instead of getting into your head which is obviously as much a mess as the rest of ours. Thank you;.

genes is stronger than water...
