Fair To Midland

Formed in 1998 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, prog metal band Fair to Midland are vocalist Darroh Sudderth, guitarist Cliff Campbell, bassist Jon Dicken, drummer Brett Stowers, and keyboardist Matt Langley. After two independently released records (The Carbon Copy Silver Lining EP in 2001 and Inter. Funda. Stifle in 2004), Fair to Midland caught the attention of System of a Down's Serj Tankian, who signed them to his label, Serjical Strike, in April 2006. The Drawn and Quartered EP, featuring demo and live tracks, arrived later that year. Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True, with production from David Bottrill (Tool, King Crimson), was released in June 2007. Following the release, the band toured extensively, playing the Coachella, Download, Rock am Ring, and Rock im Ring festivals, and garnered opening slots for Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Flyleaf, and Dir en Grey. The end of the 21st century's first decade saw them change labels, signing to eOne; they also changed management and booking agents. In 2010 the band began recording the dark, spectral Arrows & Anchors, which was released by eOne in the summer of 2011. ~ Kenyon Hopkin, Rovi

i heard 1 song by FTM a few years ago and instantly fell in love. They're stuff is amazing and I love that it doesn't even sound KIND OF like he crap that's out now.
It's sad that FTM did not have the success they deserve. This wad a great live band with 3 great albums, but we probably will never have a chance to experience another FTM album.
First heard these guys on the eagle's local show & immediately fell in love. Saw them live numerous times & was never disappointed . Darroh has a child & has settled down with the former vocalist from iwrestledabe a r o n c e so it's highly unlikely & unfortunate that we probably won't get to hear anything new from them
They are so awesome and nice. Daro the front man is so f**king nice.
I love this band so much.
I've had the pleasure of seeing these guys in an empty club when they started, opened for them on a street in the middle of downtown Dallas and have seen them in a sold out venue after A&A was released. They've ALWAYS been amazing!
This band is amazing. Why aren't they more famous?
Pandora has the lyrics wrong on the song A Seafarer's Knot on Fables From A Mayfly....
I really doubt any of you guys will beleve me, but the guirtarist, Clifford Campbell is my Uncle, Son of Wes Campbell (grandad) Wes is the husband to Zela Campbell. ^.^ Das mah uncle bros.
Great production brought ftm to life and they shall stay in my top 5

Darroh sure can BELT IT OUT!!!! And super amazing stage prescence, the whole band is amazing. I saw them for the first time 10 years ago here in Tulsa, and my jaw literally dropped, they are amazing!

What a terrible bio write-up. How about we talk a little bit abou their incredibly unique style?
NO ONE rocks a show like Darroh! An incredible talent!

Hell yeah FTM! Randomly caught one of their songs a couple years back on XM and I'm hooked for good... wish they'd come to Buffalo
They are the best live band I've seen. They make GREAT music and make it FUN! Very unique style. I haven't ever heard anything like them. Rock on FTM.
this is one of my favorite bands of all time! not too often you come across a cd you can put on repeat for like a year....

Amazing band...
Best band of all time.
Ive seen them live twice and they are by far the most awesome live band I have ever seen. I cannot wait for December when they are going to STL, Chicago, and Indy. I will most definitely be at all three shows.
I know the Brett Stowers' dad...he was my english teacher sophomore year.
Saw FTM open for a couple of bands. The 3rd time I saw them open for another band I decided to check out their music, big mistake. I now have 1,000's of dollars of cd's I don't listen to anymore because of this band lol. Thanks a lot!!!
love the singer, the band is great too. listened to fables many times, need to check out a&a.

I like this band because of their uniqueness. They're doing something with Metal that's different and humanizing, but has just as much energy as more brutal sub-genres, especially live.
I wish it was easier to find similar artists to my favorite bands and to find more underground bands. If I hadn't gone to see Periphery and Scale the Summit I would have never discovered this amazing band.
starango0505
I have seen them live.. amazing and so talented. Would def see them again. I luv FTM!!!!
Saw them in 2004 in Temple, Tx & again in Plano, Tx in 2009
Both times they were amazing!

Never in my life have I worshiped a band as much as FTM!
I saw them in myrtle beach with chevelle.. and i gotta say they took the show. I love FTM! So creative and this guy has such an incredible range in his voice. Bone chilling.
For anyone who has not heard the four leaked demos from these guys yet, listen to them, they're definitely FTM at their best. Thedemos are: "Musical Chairs," "A Loophole in Limbo," "Bright Bulbs and Sharp Tools," and "Rikki-Tikki - T a v i . "
fantastic! wish i knew more bands as creative as this.

FTM have become one of my favorite bands of all time. You have to see them live to fully appreciate them, Sudderth really can sign that range virtually pitch perfect, all while hanging upside down. So much energy. It's not the same old crap on the radio, it's technically interesting and the songs stick with you. Props to every member of this band.
agreed. sudderth hanging from the rafter: classic.
jc03chs
One of my absolute favorite bands!!! Their sound is amazing and unique. I don't think you can truly appreciate FTM til you see them live. I say this only because I have seen them 4 times, first time was back in 2005, and they never get old. Can't wait for the new album!!
inter was a tad disappointin g (but orphan anthem made up for that) but u need to give carbon copy silver lining a listen. anyone who was a fan of what they did on DOTM will love it.and ofcourse, Fables kicked @$$. lke i said, album coming out this year, new songs already being premiered live!
I agree metalpayne, I agree. awesome album and live: they were off the walls: literally! it takes some warming up to but most different music always does
I've listened to the album, and it's the only one where I've actually listened to the whole album and loved it. It takes a while to love all the songs, but the vocalist is what makes the band amazing. Their previous albums sucked (before Fables from A Mayfly) I think, but Fables From A Mayfly was utterly amazing. A 10 out of 10 for this. I hope they come out with more albums. Just don't listen to Inter.funda. It blowed.

I guess I'm the only one left unimpressed with what I heard......" t h e walls of jericho"

Love it, love it, love it. This is wonderful. I can't stop listening to this album. I wish the radio played good music...
best frickin' band ever! it's a shame they don't get any radio play. new album's supposed to be out in 2009. can't wait!
Favorite Band! These guys have great live shows and are the s**t any way you listen to them. Beautiful work
am59236
This band is fantastic if you are considering buying their cd, do it, between the haunting use of a nautical style of music mixed with progressive metal and there intense lyrics full of mysticism and poeticism they are one of the best bands out of Texas in years
THIS BAND IS FREAKING AWESOME!! hooked from the first song! =D =D Thank you Serj for finding these guys and bringing them out to the public's view
Favorite band ever.. this is true music. If u ever have a chance spread this band around. Ive shown like 50 people.
kdhagema
Does this song have anything to do with the band Thrice???
Just now heard them, and my initial reaction to the album can be summed up in one sentence. This is what music is all about
these guys are great =D
it's too bad GOTH-ANN doesn't know about these guys
My mom used to say this saying alot Fair to Midland . I never knew just what the hell that meant, but the band is fantastic, It is great to hear a fresh band. I really like them
googlykida
For someone who has been out of the metal, and progressive rock scene since the days of his youth (10 years and counting, although original prog. rock predates me) these guys have left me perplexed. There is still a shred of hope left in a genre that lost it's sense of individualit y many years ago. "Fables From A Mayfly" is absolutely incredible, and a must listen for anyone who used to have any association to this now lost cause of a scene.
