i wish that i knew all i know now...bah dah bah when i was younger...oo h la la, ronnie be good!
lost my virginity at 13 to a 18yr old girl with faces on the turntable.sh e turned me on to faces, great times the 70s
Ronnie Lane was the heart and soul of this band. this is why the band collapsed after he left. He did some great music with Slim Chance in the 70's after he left; worth checking out
One of the greatest live bands ever but didn't split up until '75
The Faces were one of THE best bands of their time and SO under-apprec i a t e d , in my opinion. Rod Stewart has NEVER, and I mean NEVER, sounded better than he did then. I could listen to the Faces for DAYS on end and never tire.
Got a pic of Woody from Chicago Stadium about '74. Rod is an old bag lady now but he was a sight to behold. Folk, Celtic, acoustic, and rockers ... they had a bar right on stage. Ronnie, Eod and McLagan were all top performers ... you didn't know who to watch. And Rod used to have this wonderful, boyish sense of humor that somehow had the life beat out of it when he recorded Atlantic Crossing. What a betrayal.
wow this is the first Faces song I've ever heard. boy did these guys mess up by breaking up. I dont care for any of the bands they all went too. but as a group they are incredible.
Hey @nullvalue: Did you know that Tom Verlaine is from Delaware?... . . . . . . . . . . . . A h , The Faces, back when Rod Stewart did good music prior to turning into a p**sy in the late 70's.
Many punk rockers in the late '70s learned how to play their instruments by listening to Faces records; - this statement from the Bio is so true.. When I first heard Ooh La La I thought something by Television.

I thought of Mick Taylor in the same way until catching him in NYC last May! Do yourself a favor and stay away from his live shows and maintain your memories. You woiuld thank me.
Ron Wood is good but Mick Tayor is/was the bomb
Rod at his best. Cool that you saw Faces in concert. My only claim to fame is that I saw the Beatles in '67

sweet!
Saw the Faces at the Bardny (Great Western) Rock Festival in England 1972. Great Show

Three weeks from today, The Faces/Small Faces will be Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame here in Cleveland, Ohio. Well done, lads. See you then!

HOW ABOUT SOME GREENSLEEVES ?

ROD STEWART IS A COOL DUDE, KNOW HIM PERSONALLY, RODDY THE ROOSTER!!!
Didn't realize what a big influence these guys were on me until years later, when a girlfriend bought me their anthology on CD. After listening to it I realized I had stolen many more chops from Ron than Keefer!
This is hte kind of review that makes me want to dig deeper into the Faces, 40 years after the fact.

If groups now got back to the gritty grinding rock and roll like in the Faces, music would get better

I was a photographer in San Fransisco and have the original pix of the faces concert at the Cow Palace in 1970. Stood right in front of the stage and marveled at the new singer, Rod Stewart. Have seen him dozens of times since them but never a better grittier performance than with THE FACES.

This ain't too bad!
hey, remember faces singing cindy incendently on ooh la la .party rock for 50 and over!! oh yea,
this rod stewarts best music and second is rod stewart whith jeff beck
Saw Stewart with both Beck and The Faces...Both were great, but the Faces was one of the best party shows I've ever been to
Classic... Great song which STILL gets most people dancing a little & singing right along w/ Rod.
I agree that Rod shouldn't have left the Faces, but his voice was even better when he sang with Jeff Beck!

My friend Dave Fuller and I saw the Faces in England many times. All I can say they had concerts and what raw rock it was. Brilliant !!
I used to go see the Faces in Chicago, at the Syndrome...i f I remember correctly. for a short while, they played there quite a few times. Must have been 1970 or so. A great band to see live.
thanks pandora and all the support listed. Another band brought to my attention I will surely pursue!
I'm thankful I saw this band play live several times. They were really, really that good plus a lot of fun to watch. A Nod is as Good as a Wink..to a Blind Horse is now 40 years old. I think it is one of the greatest records of all time. I still have my original copy with the poster of "X-Rated" tour photos inside! The title was a "catch phrase" from Ron Lanes dad. My dad had a few of those, too.
next to John Lennon, Rod Stewart has the second best rock and roll voice ever. Second to John Lennon is very high praise.

I'll always remember the way they make me feel.
The best band ever!!!

The worst thing that happened to Ron Wood's guitar playing was joining the stones and becoming subservient to Richards. I wish they would have held together because the Faces were just plain cool during their peak.
xblusman
aaahhh the Faces, what a rock n roll band should be..they should have just played and played and stuck around like the Stones...
court1jc
Fun boozy band. I could listen to them all day. Black Crowes imitate them much more than the Stones.
One of my all-time fave bands. Anyone who has not owned Long Player must get it. Definitive version of McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" that Sir Paul recently mimicked on his own live CD. Besides "Had Me A Real Good Time," noted above check out "Bad 'n' Ruined" and "Feel So Good." I wore out that LP.
The Faces...THE definitive rock band, never slick or highly "produced", always rowdy energy and sounding just like they would in a bar. They stuck close to their Blues roots and hovered on the boundary between 1st generation rock'n roll and commercial superstar rock. Ronnie Lane was the first bassist I ever heard playing bass up-front which, along with Kenny Jone's prominent drums, defined what we call "heavy" rock. Doug Pratt Atlanta, Georgia
xblusman
heard their live recordings, great raw and rugged band...
nik_dangr
Caught their act at William and Mary in '72. Great show. I still can't figure out what happened to Rod Stewart that turned him into a Vegas lounge lizard for the blue hair crowd. What a colossal waste of talent.
Great stuff!
gvbronso
I loved Ronnie's playing in the Faces and have full respect for the man for the years of playing great guitar... I wish he never went to play with the Stones, would of been nice to see what he could of done on his own maybe kept the Faces going. It would of been a band that recovering addicts could of joined to get back on track while leaving some great music behined .
thevanman552
I was fortunate enough to see the Rod Stewart/Ron Wood version in Dusseldorf as a kid 68/69. I remember the blues being played with real fever and Rod's hair.
Old school at it's finest!!!
Lude,crude utterly over the top cool.From note one they played loose & had a ball making some music from one of the 70's most underated band.Stewart , W o o d s , J o n e s , L a i n e & McLagan.PURE GENIUS!
Oh when Rod Stewart was a rockstar, those days have long passed, Do ya think I'm sexy?
