Influenced by some of the legendary names of pop and soul, such as the Beatles, Elton John, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, and -- oddly -- the Go-Go's, Californian Ernie Halter first began to make waves for himself with the release of his 2005 collection, Lo-Fidelity. The singer and songwriter got his start playing a small -- mostly covers -- coffeehouse gig in 1992, and was able to maintain the difficult position of being a working musician (and closet songwriter) by simply paying his dues, working on songs in his spare time, and playing in coffeehouses and smaller gigs to keep active on the scene and to sharpen his skills. Eventually, word of mouth and the Internet community on websites such as MySpace worked in Halter's favor, and by 2007 -- and his next release, Congress Hotel (on Rock Ridge Music) -- he had built up quite a buzz, and the staunchly indie Halter could be seen touring throughout much of the United States. ~ Chris True, Rovi
Loved his concert last night at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley....He is a wonderful performer!! Thanks for playing "Lisa" for me, Ernie!! It was AWESOME!
I love, love, love Ernie Halter's music. It has an ecclectic soul type of sound infused with an almost a folk sound. It is a very unique sound that just relaxes your soul.
This was my first time hearing Ernie Halter and I immediately added him to my favorites :-)

He is a great musician. I've seen him play live, and he does a great job with interacting and making the songs have their own (often funny) stories. It's what I wish every artist would do before they play a song. Love him! Melissa Polinar is great too.
I really like this guy....I had never heard of him b4 Pandora, but I really like him!!! I wish he would come here!!

He's not just amazing musically. He's a pretty fawesome guy too. I happened to be front row center while he was opening for my fave band. He reached right down and shook my hand and introduced himself, asked how I was. Ended up driving him to the airport... I wish I could see him again now that I know all his stuff.
<3 for Ernie!

I seen him in chicago... great guy! He is all that exemplifies "artistic expression", with his unique blend of soul and indie, with passionate lyrics. Great performance. Also check him out on YouTube.com, he has over 70 videos.
Saw Ernie in Birmingham and he is a damn good performer and everyone throughly enjoyed the event. And directly following Michael Warren performed and also rocked it.

i have his whole album, and man, can this guy sing. his lisp is adorable and adds to his character and personability as an artist and his songs all have straighforward, simple meanings. Best songs: whisper, when the lights go down, and into this life.
