A guitarist who was used for many R&B-oriented dates and occasionally played jazz, Eric Gale had an appealing sound and was best while performing lazy melodic blues. He was most significant to the jazz world in the early '70s, when he recorded often as a sideman for CTI, later on with the group Stuff, and on isolated tracks on his own sessions. Gale's fine 1987 EmArcy set In a Jazz Tradition shows what he could really do. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
His first album, "Forecast", was absolutely the very best! It had such an impact on me that I can still him hime strumming, "dindi' , "tonse corte",and all the rest. Does anyone know if this particular album was made into a CD version and how can I get it?
De Rabbit on Ginseng Woman is out of this world!Has always been one of my favorites!!

I seem to recall he was with Paul Simon in the movie One Trick Pony and that was the first I heard him play. Agreed with the comments on Stuff below

A truly gifted artist that has been overlooked for so long. The extended version of Angela, The Theme from Taxi begins to scratch the surface of the soulful tones that Eric could pump out from his guitar. We lost him too early and need to expand the depth and breath of his work here. God Bless.
Eric Gale is one of the best guitarist in the 70's and 80's. Eric has supported jazz artist like Grover Washington, Bob James to name a few. His style of play is very prominent in jazz artist like Bob James and Groover Washington Jr. Too bad, little is known or talked about this great guitarist.

Why is there nothing here about Stuff, one of the most underrated and unheard of bands of fusion jazz?
With Richard Tee on piano, Steve Gadd on drums, Eric Gale on guitar and playing back-up to the like of Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon and Joe Cocker, I am always surprised on how many have yet to have the pleasure of hearing them play.

It's a real shame Pandora has so little of Gale's music! I realize he may be fairly obscure, but isn't that the point of this exercise?
