French soprano, author, composer, and producer Emma Shapplin was born Crystêle Madeleine Joliton in Savigny, France in 1974. She spent her formative years studying classical music, but found herself drawn to rock, resulting in the creation of her own signature style which combines elements of opera, trance, and pop. Her debut album, the multi-platinum-selling Carmine Meo, was released in 1997. Etterna, which was produced by film composer Graeme Revell, arrived in 2002, followed in 2009 by the more commercial, pop-oriented Macadam Flower. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
I would not even compare Sarah brightman to Emma, not only Emma's voice is truly unique she also writes all of her music and lyrics, now that a true artist.

Wow!! an Angel fell out of heaven. Her first album, Cameo Mine, is not on here. I recommend popping in her Cd for those long trips through the nothings.

Mysterious and beautiful woman loaded with a beautiful and mysterious voice... She is the one that beats all the modern time opera singers. She has character and you'll have to be unreceptive to not hear it.
It was a wonderful surprise to hear Emma Shapplin here @ Pandora!Ive bought one of her cds just out of intuition, as until then I hadn't heard of her. It was "love at 1st listening", just the same as it was w/ Sarah Brightman! They are unique, thou one reminds the other so much.I thank & congrat. Pandora for offering radio listeners the chance to hear such great-talented-thou-not-so-famous artists. Her voice is simply heavenly, besides her being absolutely gorgeous.
Although I do like Sarah Brightman, I personally prefer Emma's voice, because she has a more haunting, raw quality to her voice. She is truly a hidden gem.
