Born in New York in 1986, singer/songwriter Emily King grew up surrounded by music, as her parents are jazz vocalists Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti. In 2002, the 16-year-old decided to concentrate full-time on her singing career; she received her GED, and began perfecting her craft in earnest. By 2005 King had gained the attention of Hitman studio team member Chucky Thompson and was signed by RCA/J Records, who released her debut album, East Side Story, in 2006. The single "Walk in My Shoes" appeared the following year. ~ Al Campbell, Rovi
She's a great performer, I saw her open for Floetry in 08. Sadly, there were two women saying she couldn't sing and had no talent. Boy were they wrong! She took off after that.

I like this rendition..very smooth. She has some talent
Her voice is simply soulful! She's a combination of India.Arie & Alica in a jazzy way. She definitely has her own unique voice & some joints it reminds me of singers I love to hear. I heard her by accident.I had the TV on and Baisden After Dark was one TVOne and I heard this beautiful voice. I actually got up to see who it was and didn't know who she was but that I had to find out. I heard her other song on YouTube and decided to buy her album. I can't wait to receive it in the mail!
Chucky Thompson laced her with some very good stuff. Emily has what it takes to be one of the greatest artists to come along in this day and age. Her voice is like soft and sweet - not quiet - just mellow and soulful or smooth and sexy. I just love her music. Too bad all of these cats done slept on such a nice joint.

I love Emily King. She is fresh..something different. She is not afraid to step outside the box. The single U&I got me hooked...
This is a new artist for me. She has a very strong voice. Not too many can sing this song where it comes across as "heartfelt". I look forward to hearing more from this artist.
