The Band: Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, and the Foggy Mountain Boys....in my humble opinion, the most versatile and cohesive, as well as the most talented Bluegrass gathering in history...they had it all: banjo, flattop, fiddle, dobro, and doghouse bass....no mandolin?

Love this. Listening to The Three Pickers. I'm a rock and roller from way back, but who can deny the wonderfule musicality of music like this. I remember my parents being Earl Scruggs fans. Maybe they knew something that I had to grow up to appreciate.

Grew up listling to Lester and Earl what a dueo the best ever, started a band many years ago with my Dad we played all thier songs
Earl is the only reason you hear a good banjo player at all!! Think about it. He was the catalyst for the rolling style of fingerpicking in which that instrument is known for. Nuff said!!
Earl Scruggs single-handedly revolutionized the sound of Bluegrass and Country Music with his “Three-Finger-Roll” style of banjo playing. Everyone wanted to play like Earl, and his sound has become so ubiquitous it's impossible to imagine what those genres would sound like without his influence - genius in its purest form.
