Dustin Kensrue

Since the formation of Thrice in 1998, Dustin Kensrue was most notably known as the lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist for the well-regarded Irvine, California post-hardcore quartet. And while Thrice always remained his top priority, he began more seriously working on solo acoustic material around 2004. Originally writing under the project name Ursus Veritas, Kensrue eventually dropped the moniker, choosing instead to work under his own name. Tracks first appeared online via MySpace in spring 2005, and Kensrue eventually took some brief time away from work on Thrice's fifth studio effort the next year to finish up the recording of his debut record with co-producer and Thrice bandmate Teppei Teranishi. He hit the road for ten days that summer to play select dates around the United States. Playing various originals, covers, and the occasional Thrice song, he was joined on his first solo tour by Lucero's Ben Nichols on East Coast dates and ex-Hot Water Music frontman Chuck Ragan on the West Coast. Kensrue ultimately signed with Equal Vision in fall 2006, and the label issued the folk- and country-tinged Please Come Home the following January. Keeping with Thrice's history of giving back to charitable organizations, five percent of the album's proceeds were donated to a non-profit. ~ Corey Apar, Rovi

Sounds like Come pick me up by Ryan Adams http://www.y o u t u b e . c o m / w a t c h ? v = k M 0 m j u k D G R w
Dustin actually does sound a bit like them on this song, but only the intro of this song.
I think some of you must have a head cold, not even close to sounding like Ryan Adams or Coldplay.

Mr. Kensrue is amazing on the song ''Pistol'' BUT DO NOT UNDERESTIMAT E Ryan Adams !
My 'Ryan Adams' Pandora station begs to differ...
People! Ryan Adams n Coldplay have NOTHING to do with Dustin's style of music!!! At all!!! Open ur ears!!!
Diverse and talented - Dustin certainly has a unique style!
Love it! This was my wedding song :)
he is amazing, i love his solo stuff

His acoustic work is better than Thrice or Ryan Adams. Sorry Adams fans, his voice is way less melodic and his endless cheesy love ballads don't sound Beatles-esqu e and genuine, they sound gimmicky.
Are we sure this isn't Ryan Adams?
Too bad they don't list his holiday album here.
Sounds like his own stuff to me. Coldplay and Ryan Adams, not.

ive got to disagree. Dustin has a wholesome and almost southern baptist gospel feel to his album mixed in with some songs that seem to be influenced by Johnny Cash. Nothing Coldplay has done resembles anything close to Dustin's solo project. Coldplay is overproduced and a bit more complexed. I enjoy coldplay's music but it is not in the same genre as Dustin Kensrue's solo work.

I wouldn't consider coldplay to be a similar artist. anybody else agree?
Hearing Thrice's earlier stuff, that was a bit too hard for me to stick to, but he has a beautiful voice! I knew he would develop that and take advantage of this opportunity and natural gift. Yay! I love it!
Sounds good. Only problem is he is a Ryan Adams wanna be. Why not just listen to the genuine artical?
i herd of him in college its really amazing how you can go from Thursday to this.. risky but it sounds really good i do advise everyone reading this to pick up this album

They need to add his Christmas album "This Good Night is Still Everywhere"; even though it's no longer Christmas season, it's supposedly a great CD.

Sounds like a young Bob Dylan... like it a lot!
