Dressy Bessy

Denver-based indie-pop band Dressy Bessy was led by singer/guitarist Tammy Ealom, who began her musical career as a member of the little-known 40th Day; in time she left the group to focus on writing her own material, eventually joining the earliest incarnation of the Minders. A series of short-lived projects (including a stint in Sissy Fuzz) followed before a frustrated Ealom befriended drummer Darren Albert, and with bassist Rob Greene they formed Dressy Bessy, issuing their debut single "Ultra Vivid Colour" in mid-1997. Ealom's boyfriend, Apples in Stereo guitarist John Hill, signed on for 1998's You Stand Here EP; the full-length Pink Hearts, Yellow Moons followed early the next year; California, the band's sophomore album, was issued in late 2000 . ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Don't understand how they're being referred to in the past tense (...was led by...) when they're still active.

Dressy Bessy is awesome. I've been enamored of them since I first heard them on Radio 1190 and at the 15th Street Tavern (long since destroyed to make room for larger buildings).

Glad to see I am not the only one who hears Kim Deal.
they're featured on the powerpuff girl soundtrack along with some other elephant 6 collective members, definitely worth checking out :D
Dressy Bessy played at Littlefields in Brooklyn this weekend, and it was a fun energetic and tight show. If you get the chance to see them live do so!
Shouldn't Dapper Dan be a similar artist, or would that be a Stretch Armstong?

more Kim Deal than Kiz
awesome band. kind of refreshing to hear flat singing that is good in all other ways.
I think the hooks separate DB from the bands you folks seem to love to compare it to. Very catchy all around...unl i k e the Donnas and Liz Phair.

I hate to admit I like a band with this name though...gee z .

Hmm...I kinda like 'em
I thought it was Liz Phair at first! gonna look more into them....
Would agree with Raechel... voice sounds a lot like Liz Phair. Which makes sense after having seen Tammy outside the Bluebird when Liz was in town. ;-)
Another reason why Denver rocks!

good sound-
kronnebu
amazing band
She has a voice a lot like Liz Phair, like it a lot!
Good stuff. Breeders should definitely be in similar artists.
mcfossum
great combo of music + art - worth checking out their record covers on their website
Virtually indistinguis h a b l e from the Breeders at low volume unless you know better.
EVENTUALLY bessy has to undressy,
WTF? And why do I like it?

They are releasing a new album this week.
I like Dressy Bessy...

Always makes me curious as to whether or not I would like Undressy Bessy...

Hmmm.

I shall think on these things.

In the bathroom.

Not really.

DON'T TELL!

Off key? :/ WHARR R UR EARZ?
Her singing off key makes me pinch my buttcheeks together to keep from having diarrhea. Dressy Bessy - bad chick singer = much better.
love this artist! wish pandora had the "pink hearts yellow moons" album though.
I went with a swiftness to emusic to snatch up all of their albums. What a great feel of fun pervades all of their music.
"The Things That You Say That You Do" is a nifty fun song!
