Hailing from Los Gatos, CA, Dredg began sharpening their aggro-metal sound in the early '90s. Comprised of Gavin Hayes (vocals/guitar), Mark Engles (guitar), Drew Roulette (bass), and Dino Campanella (drums), the group was performing in area clubs before they'd even graduated from high school. Dredg self-released the Orph EP in 1997. The ambitious Leitmotif followed two years late, and it was reissued with the band's 2001 signing to Interscope. El Cielo, Dredg's proper Interscope debut, arrived in autumn 2002, and Deftones producer Terry Date was at the helm for their 2005 effort Catch Without Arms. They released the concert album Live at the Fillmore a year later, followed by Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion in 2009. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
Where do people get the idea this is a Christian band? Some of their music involves prettty scathing criticism of religion. There might be Christians in the band (?) but a Christian band that does not make them.
WOW. WOW. WOW. Just saw these guys live for the first time here in Denver this past weekend. I have always been a Dredg fan and have their albums, but these guys almost sound better live then in studio. Amazing show!!
a band I played with about 5 years ago got me into Dredg. Our guitarist never went anywhere without his Dredg sweatshirt. They're finally coming to Indy next month. It'll be my first time seeing them!
Everyone should take the opportunity to see them live...for sure! I absolutely love Catch Without Arms and can listen to it cover to cover over and over and that is the test of a GREAT album!
dredg is by far my favorite band. I went to their "Leitmotif 11th Anniversary Show" in Santa Cruz about a month ago. It was unbelievable! They played full 90 min. set, took 5, then played Leitmotif front to back! Best show ever! A week later I went to S.F. to see the follow up show, epically late, and it was sold out by the time we got there. Worst show ever. denial hit me so hard I didn't leave for 30 minutes. Check out my Purely Dredg Radio Station I created, and read the description!
I saw them for the 5th time this last Friday. Like what has been said before, see these guys live if you have a chance. World class band + small venues = Amazing Show!
dredg is my absolute favorite band. I've missed them when they've come through Michigan, but I definitely wanted to go.

Saw them live at a small venue and had a drink with Drew after the show. Amazing band-one of my favorites! If you like Tool, Muse, or Porcupine Tree, you'll love dredg! For fans of nuanced music, new and interesting sounds/concepts, there is nothing better.
For years TOOL sat at the top of the thrown as my favorite artist, never had I thought any band would come along to take that place; but Dredg managed to do so. Beautiful band.
Yeah, some of their stuff is fairly reminiscent of Porcupine Tree. I like the way they incorporate atmospheric music with worldbeat and straightforward rock. Very cool
one of if not my favorite band, very creative. you need to listen to their entire albums from start to finish to appreciate them fully. wish more bands strived for excellence and creativity like this group. truly remarkable music.

Pariah is an amazing album...lyrically and musically deep and layered. What a comeback album!
Just you guys wait and listen to their new CD dropping in march, I heard it the day they finished and it is nothing short of amazing... complete sensory overload.
great band, one of my all time favorites. was a little disappointed in catch without arms but el ceilo and leitmotif were awesome enough that it was alright. live at the filmore is wonderful if you haven't had a chance to catch them live. i saw them open for coheed and it was a memorable experience. they are set to come out with a new album in march, i'm pumped. apparently they released a live dvd too, but i haven't seen it.
