Good grief!? Without Labrie DT is just another Stupendously Fantastic jam band. Labrie is what differentiates them from the rest...oh and the deity like musianship of the rest of them.
And this song has among DT's worst vocal performances. LaBrie would be better if he tried to sing more naturally, he forces it too much, and it shows. There are other bands where the lead singer tries to force their voice into something different from what it is, like Blind Guardian, however, they don't try to replicate that same over-forced, over-assisted sound live.
His voice isn't just horrible at concert, it is horrible in studio as well. Dream Theater would be better as an instrumental band, as their instrumentals can attest to. And, yeah, there are a lot of hard rock bands that don't match the studio in concert, but that's why I listen to METAL. Dream Theater is the worst band about that; most metal bands are able to put on a better concert, even with weaker than studio vocals.

I have seen many Hard Rock acts, and I can tell ya, from Aerosmith, to Led Zeppelin, most bands vocals in concert are not the best. Such childish games, casting all the blame, sent from miles away! This song has a very strong similarity to Tool's style.
