That instrumental , just wow!
This has always been my fav DT song, so very technical!!!
All of you morons that don't like Labrie's vocals, go listen to Justin Bieber or One Direction stations, because you obviously have no idea what good music is.

Epic song
Give dream theater their respect musically one of the better bands
Labrie's singing ruins this song for me, as it does most DT songs.
The first time that I heard this song, especially the build-up crescendo part, my jaw was on the floor.

It still is.

ROCK GODS, Listen closley, even closer, Now ya got it. DE
LaBrie is an excellent singer with a versatile sound and exciting range. Also his voice fits the music perfectly.
rdtrucking.. . look into 'Liquid Tension Experiment' it has Jordan Rudess, John Petrucci, and Mike Portnoy from DT.. No vocals. Tony Levi plays base rather than John Myung.
haha! I love Labrie! You sir are the one that needs a clue! lol JK. But seriously when I first started listening to DT... however many years ago I didn't care for him either, but he grew on me like a Canadian cancer. :P
If only LaBrie wouldn't sing....love the band!!
And what do you mean goofy keyboards?? you need a clue!!
I got to see them back in June, Max. That's my first exposure to the Band. What an awesome night, both Iron Maiden and Dream Theater. Note, this was in Albuquerque, NM.

I'm a thorough listener of Metropolis Pt. 2. So for this to be the first song I hear on my new DT station, I was simply just... Wow.
One of my DT favorie song!!!!
It's so close to being great, but I just can't get into LaBrie's vocals or the goofy keyboards.
This song is truely amazing. I'm seeing them open for Iron Maiden in a few days. I'm so excited!!!
pkrd
its all reel

Jeeezzz...gr e a t composition. Reminded me of Rush in their early years of 2112, Hemispheres, Fly By Night. I'm going to look into these guys, first time I hear them.
LOve these guys! I like their cover of Master Of Puppets but the voice didnt fit but the music was incredible
John Myung's solo makes me cry
this song defines prog metal
Holy crap are they serious? Who wrote that, and who in the heck can play it, much less all together. That composer could give some of the classical greats a run for the money. Unless of course a computer sequencer is playing it - then it would make sense. Else gtfo that rocks. btw I saw these guys at the Orpheum in Boston way back in 95 I think, and they did in fact rock.

If you like this song, check out their album "Scenes From a Memory: Metropolis Part II". Excellent, seamless...
The first song I heard of Dream Theater
i'd even call it phantasmagor i c a l
This song is fantasmagori c a l
