Their covers of Yes and Rush songs are quite good. Their cover of Stargazer sucked, however.
I listened to both the Elton John version and the Dream Theater version. The Dream Theater one has more energy, and seems less constrained. I like it more

LaBrie sounds a lot better in his live performances when he doesnt spend the ENTIRE song going "EEEEEEEEEEE E H H H H H H H h h h h h h h h h ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! "

No. It sounds better. It's Dream Theatre, not some random homo plugging on a piano.
It is a cover of an Elton John song if that's what you mean. James LaBrie doesn't really sound like Sir Elton but I think he does a great job capturing the energy of the original song while adding his own operatic spin.

P.S. I love this song.
