Affectionately known as "the World's Greatest Storyteller," Dorothy Norwood has used her soulful vocals and uplifting delivery to rise to the upper echelon of modern gospel music. Five of her albums have achieved gold status, while, she's garnered six Grammy nominations and three Stellar Award nominations.
Norwood has been singing most of her life. At the age of eight, she toured and performed with a family group. Moving to Chicago, in 1956, she sang with Mahalia Jackson, the Caravans, and Reverend James Cleveland. Launching her solo career, in 1964, she was a hit from the start. With her debut solo album, Johnny and Jesus, she earned her first gold record award. Her second album, Denied Mother, did equally as well. An opportunity to bring her music beyond the church came in 1972, when Norwood was invited to be an opening act for the Rolling Stones' 30-state American tour.
Norwood continues to share her convictions through music. Her album, Live With the Northern California GMWA Mass Choir, released in 1991, reached the top position on the Top 40 chart compiled by Billboard. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi

Dorothy's song, "Oh Holy Spirit Come in the Room" really touches my soul. Thank you Dorothy for singing this song with such conviction. You are a true child of God.
Dorothy brings life experiences and the dependency on God in a way that all can understand. With the vibrancy, she tells us how through no matter what, God is always near. When friends and family turn against you, God is there.
The witnessing & testamonies & with contempory music is a great recipe to help help teach youth & young peoples choir the Word. Help us directors/musicians understand the Spirit & what's expected of us in order to learn & teach.
Dorothy Norwood has no business dedicating a song to Obama, who is in no way trying to have victory in Jesus!!! To me, that statement completely nolifies her Christian witness. Obama and Satan are working together to destroy America and our founding in the Lord.
I love Dorothy Norwood; my brother, Isaiah Clay, does, too! He has so many of her CD's and would not even loan me one. So, his wife bought me one I did not have for Christmas!!
