What took so long to play this song on my 70's and 80's station? It's one of the greatest songs ever as long as you don't take the long solo out. If you do, though, it's still OK, but not great.

The Doors were masters of conjuring moods and dark ambiances much more than other groups considered "dark" or "goth". Sexy as hell music too.
prior to this, every song on the radio was 2:30. This and In-A-Gadda-D a _ V i d a changed everything

This song bothered Jim because the crowd would yell it out as a request and this was one of the few songs the poet Jim Morrison did not write. The irony is this is the song history will remember him for...the man was an unbelievable poet and wordsmith and traveler of both time and space.
