Long ago and far away, my older sister worked for the largest record store in the world--Sam Goody's in Manhattan. She would bring home a new LP every other day, it seemed. Back then, when this record was released--and i was still in my little Beatles and Stones world, this song, along with the rest of the album, blew us kids away!!

once saw a dead on, look-a-like morrison in amsterdam in 1987. it was the only time i ever gasped out loud in public. i approached him and he said he got that comment alllll the time.
pcudone, this was Jim's idea of taking reality to the very edge and then "breaking on through to the other side" . That is what this song is about. the lyrics make perfect sense especially if you listen carefully and have done your homework and read the book. Just like Horse Latitudes, they actually do exist and refers to the spanish ships that would get caught in that location without wind, thus they would dump the largest load,( the horses) thus the name "horse Latitudes.
