This song to me reprsents the very best of Donald byrd's music..his treatment of the song entices emotions to simply leech out of the listener .....one feels the deep suffering of a child of the master while relishing the splendor that waits just beyond that earthly cloak...the cool cool water of redemptiion and release lies ahead and while the journey get here has been long and strewn with disapoiments , dangers, trials, sadnesses, loneliness and even brief;all to brief moments of glee...up ahe
I was only teenager when I first heard this, but the use of voices seemed very powerful at the time
