Still revered in underground circles as doom-grind pioneers, Melbourne, Australia's Disembowelment left as their legacy only a pair of highly traded demos (1990's Mourning September and 1991's Deep Sensory Procession into Aural Fate), an EP called Dusk (1992), and a much emulated 1993 LP entitled Transcendence into the Peripheral. But what a legacy. The last two remain genre classics and were issued by the Relapse label, after which bandmembers Renato Gallina (vocals/guitar), Jason Kells (guitar), Matthew Skarajew (bass), and Paul Mazziotta (drums) unfortunately disbanded due to growing musical differences, having never even performed live. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
This was the first "Doom Grind" band that I had ever heard WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in 1990. It was so much different from the other grinders of that time period, Carcass, Napalm, and Impetigo were strong at that time. But they werent doing anything like this.
