Diane Birch made her studio debut with 2009's Bible Belt, a combination of singer/songwriter soul and soft, '70s-era pop in the vein of Carole King, Laura Nyro, and Elton John. Although born in Michigan, Birch traveled the globe as a child, bouncing between Zimbabwe, South Africa, Australia, and Oregon with her preacher father. Her musical influences proved to be as diverse as her upbringing, and the Suzuki-trained pianist eventually moved to Los Angeles, where she began distilling her love for Motown, blues, and old-fashioned pop into a uniquely retro sound. After honing her chops in England, Birch returned to America and signed with S-Curve Records. Bible Belt, which featured cameos from members of Galactic, the Roots, and the Jive Five, was released in May 2009. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi
Carole King is proof to the diversity of music that comes from this generation. From 20 somethings to baby boomers her soulful sounds make us all want to find our inner groove.
Diane is an amazing young talent. I play her CD at work and everyone who walks through my office has to stop and ask me whose music I am listening to. She has everyone I know listening, from my 26 year old daughter to my 30-40 + year old friends. We can't get enough! Someone asked me which song was my favorite. Her favorite was, "Rewind." I have to say I don't really have a favorite; the whole CD is my favorite. I am looking forward to hearing more of her fantastic music!
Had a great opportunity to see her perform live at the City Winery in NYC....1 table left of center...so close we could have touched her (never would have though).
She sounds as good (or better) in person than the cd..shows true talent.
Someone gave me Bible Belt for my Bday and now I just can't stop listening.
LOve her quirkiness too. She also played some items she's written but not yet recorded....truely talented beyond her years....

So nice to hear this artist --- reminds me of Carole King with soul... makes me smile.

So bummed that I missed her on Roosevelt Island!!!
This woman can sing!!! This is real talent, not "Industry" garbage run through the Studio filters to make it marketable to the masses with a pretty face attached to it.
