Mystifyingly taking their name from a popular chick lit bestseller, the Devil Wears Prada is easily one of the most bizarrely named bands of their time. Since the group is a Christian metalcore act from Dayton, Ohio, one assumes that the band name was chosen not because the sextet is a foe of former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, but metaphorically, as in "the devil is a deceptively appealing figure." The Devil Wears Prada formed in 2005, consisting of singer and lyricist Mike Hranica (who handles the death growl vocals), guitarist and vocalist Jeremy DePoyster (who does the clean vocals), guitarist Chris Rubey, bassist Andy Trick, keyboardist James Baney, and drummer Daniel Williams. This lineup recorded the 2005 EP Patterns of a Horizon, which was self-released with individual hand-painted covers. Signing to Victory Records' positive-themed subsidiary Rise, the Devil Wears Prada released Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord in the summer of 2006. After selling more than 30,000 units of their debut, they went back to the studio and began plugging away on 2007's Plagues. With Roots Above and Branches Below followed two years later. They followed it with a concept EP about the apocalypse titled Zombie in 2010. Both of these latter releases debuted in the Billboard Top Ten; the band was also a star live attraction, they headlined -- and sold out -- their own tours for three years running. In the summer of 2011, they headlined the Van's Warped Tour as a precursor to the release of the band's fourth album, Dead Throne, which was produced by Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz and released in September of that year. The group's first live album, Dead&Alive, followed in 2012. Hranica and Rubey also have an experimental grindcore side project band called xGUMBYx. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi
I've seen Prada live 5 times now and they never disappoint. I was even in Florida for their first ever performance of Assistant to the Regional Manager. Been with this band since the beginning and will be till the end!
Dead Throne is a beautiful hard album. the album that they made that probably wasn't their best is Plagues with its cookie cutter metalcore sound. alolt of the new metalcore bands sound like plagues and its not good. Dead Throne is at the moment their best album yet. you can really hear their sound maturing into what they want the band to sound like. CANNOT wait for the new album :DDDDDDD, and yea fix the BIO they didn't take their name from the movie dumbass
Does pandora not have dear love: a beautiful discord? I love that album some of their best stuff is on that album, although their new stuff is still good
please change that bio. they came out before the movie lol they named theirselves the devil wears prada cause they are a christian metalcore band and they believe the world is becoming to obsessed with fashion industry and nice thing and theyre saying that stuff doesnt matter the devil wears prada! im not even christian and i know this lol
Dude they r epic! I LOVE THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA!!!!!! I hate haters ... At my school i get bullied bc i listen to them and screamo and hard rock and things like that and they r always asking me why i have f**king scars arrrgggg idiots!!!!!!! c:
To everyone that's talking about his screams, they sound like that because after all the years of Inhale Screaming he got tired out and now is throat is actually quite hoarse from it meaning he can't make the same sound he used to.
mike's screams and growls are really horse and throaty on the last album...but I will always be a huge fan of Prada. they're the band that got me into christian metalcore and are an awsome group of brosephs
