This made me think of the Vlog brothers! And now I know why. . . it's their intro!! And Death Cab for Cutie is one of my favorite bands. . . it's definitely a small world!
One of my favorite death cab songs. T Dawg is right, this is a song about a relationship heading south. I had the experience this song describes with a girlfriend in Seattle (laying in bead awkwardly, when you both know the relationship is over), and this song nails it!
I'm starting a group called pandemonium! Ask if you wanna join you don't have to follow but it will make it easier for me to get back to you, I'll give you a nickname and give you a rank in the group so hope you join its not much but you'll be a pandemonium! (Means wild uproar) p.s. if your a vampire, or demon, or monster of some kind join please (werewolves and vampires please get along)
It's not a homosexual or incestuous topic, he's describing couples transitioning out of love and drawing a parallel to being brothers on a hotel bed, they care for each other and comfortable enough to share the moment but not comfortable enough with each other to break the border.
I think this song may have symbolisms of how actual brothers and brothers in arms and bandmates may feel about each other as they age. We are not the same jovial boys we were when we were younger and our lives have either gone in different directions, or there may be a yearning to do so. I also pick up up on some slightly homosexual undertones, but I believe that might be some personal sarcasm from the writer, but I think most guys can relate to the meaning of the lyrics. Most guys that end up
no, it is not a song about gay guys =P "we say goodnight from their separate sides, like brothers on a hotel bed" as in the couple doesn't have a connection anymore...
Haha, it's not "band," and "bed" isn't creepy at all if you think of what it means. If you have ever slept in a bed with a sibling, you're not exactly cuddling, especially if you're brothers in double-digit ages. Now think of that, except your "brother" is your spouse. It's a perfect metaphor for lover who no longer share love. Beautiful songwriting, and the piano bit at the beginning is perfect for setting the mood.
what really makes this song work is the overall message that people change and the fear that the changing will keep loved ones from loving us; so lovely piano side notes that step into the hallway of the heart almost like sunshine in a dark corridor ~
