Hailing from Phoenix, AZ, the indie rock band Dear and the Headlights comprises Ian Metzger (vocals, guitar), Joel Marquard (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Chuckie Duff (bass, keyboard), PJ Waxman (vocals, guitar), and Mark Kulvinskas (drums). Prior to the group's formation in 2005, Metzger, Marquard, and Waxman had been playing music together without a rhythm section. Friend Chuckie Duff offered to record a few demo songs, but the lineup disbanded after the demos were done. Months later, Duff convinced the band to reassemble. He joined on bass and financed a full-length recording, while drummer Kulvinskas enlisted just in time for the band's first show a couple of weeks later. The quintet was soon opening for the likes of the Bravery, matt pond PA, Make Believe, Idlewild, and the Hold Steady. Dear and the Headlights signed with Equal Vision Records in November 2006, with the album Small Steps, Heavy Hooves arriving in February 2007. Drunk Like the Bible Times followed in September 2008, catering to an audience that had considerably expanded since the band's tours with the likes of Jimmy Eat World and Paramore. ~ Kenyon Hopkin, Rovi
Bad news....... Officially DatH has broken up. The great ones only last so long but i say enjoy the music they put out (2 albums and a great single, daysleeper,) and hope for a reunion or some sort of social recognition someday for the revolutionary music they put out. If you want to read the official note to fans its on their home page.

these guys are amazing. it might take you a while to warm up b/c they are a little different... but oh man. and live, they are incredible. you can just feel the energy radiating. I got to meet Ian while he was selling merch at the show and he is so down to earth. I wish for their continued success!

one of the best bands in the scene today, without question one of my favorites....they make me want to get my band back together!
I'm not sure how i feel about these guys yet but they have a good sound and will probably grow on me. I also might need to hear more from them to get a better idea of their sound.
These guys ROCK. Sorta like a mix of Radiohead and Counting Crows. I saw them live, and they're just raw power on stage. If you're smart, you'll listen to them now so you can say you heard them first when they blow up. And if they don't go down in history, then there is no hope for good music in this world...lol that's morbid. ^_^
