Dead Confederate

Dead Confederate take a post-grunge approach to their music, which also leans heavily on the group's psychedelic and Southern rock influences. Seeds for the band's formation were planted during the late '90s, when future bandmates Hardy Morris (vocals, guitar), Brantley Senn (bass), Walker Howle (guitar), John Watkins (keyboards), and Jason Scarboro (drums) bonded over a shared affinity for Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. Although hailing from Augusta, GA, the quintet relocated to Atlanta following college graduation. A second move quickly followed, this time to Athens, where the group doubled its touring efforts and caught the attention of former Capitol Records president Gary Gersh. Impressed with the band's haunting sound, Gersh signed Dead Confederate to his new label, The Artists Organization, and issued their debut EP in early 2008. A full-length album, Wrecking Ball, followed in September, and the group returned two years later to release its second record, Sugar. An EP, Peyote People appeared in 2012, followed by a third full-length, In the Marrow, early in 2013. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi

Probably one of the best nights of my life.

Absolutely jaw-dropping band. My band had the pleasure of opening for these guys in Little Rock, AR. Had some drinks and smoked some green with them. Great guys, great musicians, killer performers. Will see them again of opportunity presents itself.

Watched these guys open for Marshall Tucker Band, back when they were red belly band and still calling Augusta home. Their sound might have changed a little bit, but man these guys still crank out the jams

These guys are one of those rare bands who sound just as great, if not better, when you see them live. I wandered into their show at Bumbershoot a couple years back and they turned out hands down the best live band I have seen to date.
I think Sugar is better than Wrecking ball.
If you can get ahold of these guys' earlier EP's under psuedoname the Red Belly Band, do it. "Ferris Wheel" and "Yellow Bird" remain some of my favorite songs ever, but I cant find them anywhere =( Not sure if they ever play anything from that catalogue anymore.

Saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta last night. I can't wait to see them again. Amazing performers.
Saw them at Independence Festival in San Diego CA --- THEY ROCK!! one of the best bands to sort of "make it" as of late... love the melancholy tone of the music and the band members are pretty chill... definitely under rated and should be much more popular
Just saw them at The Belly Up in Solana Beach, CA. Friggin' amazing!!!! And they hung out and drank with the crowd after they played. Very cool.
Singer sounds like Jim Morrison sometimes.
Not bad. The Rat is all I have heard so far. Not bad.
great band...great southern dudes to drink PBR with.

Black Mountain is better.

Well, they don't seem like very good friends. Now do they?
First song I heard, like most list, is "The Rat"

I liked it (heard it on the radio) until friends made me change it :(
