California's David Arkenstone blends global, cinematic, and rock elements into his new age sonic tapestries. A music lover since the age of ten, when he moved to California from Chicago, Arkenstone has immersed himself in all kinds of music, and played keyboard and guitar in numerous bands from his youth.
It was when he discovered the lush arrangements and exotic approach of Kitaro that Arkenstone ventured into new age music. The increasing synergy between computer technology and musical instruments also inspired him; most of his works were created partly or entirely on his Macintosh along with synthesizers and guitars. This blend of electro-acoustic textures is showcased on albums like 1998's Book of Days, and works from his other project, Troika. Arkenstone returned in mid-2000 with Caravan of Light. Frontier followed a year later. In 2002, Arkenstone had two Grammy nominations and several Billboard new age smash hits under his belt. The legacy continued with the releases of Sketches From An American Journey in June 2002 and Atlantis in September 2004. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
Don't read this because it actually works. You will be kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of you life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However if you don't post this you will die in 2 days. Now you've started reading so don't stop. This is so scary put this on at least 5 songs in 143 minutes. When done press f6 and your lover's name will come on the screen in big letters. This is so scary because it actually works!
I discovered Valley in the Clouds way back in the 1980s while working at my college radio station, and I've been a huge fan ever since. He is the only artist from whom I have collected almost every album. Beautiful music. I wish he'd perform on the east coast more often.
The first time I heard David's music was Quest of the Dream Warrior and 10 seconds was all it took to fall in love with it. The tale of Kyla was so similar to dreams I was having at the time it was an amazing experience then and now. Thanks David.
I started listening to him with Valley of the clouds. If you close your eyes while listening to his music it will take you to the place that the music is based on. I hope he continues to put out more great music.

Listening to his WONDERFUL music since 2000. He never disappoints you in his music. TRY LISTENING TO: Citizen of Time. WOW!
I enjoyed this music since the, "The Wave" the station 104.7, first came in the mid-eighties in Los Angeles. Although today station has changed it's format they now play Jazzy type of music which is ok, but liked it better when it was primarily New Age...
Love this style of music....so easy to listen to, no matter what "mood" you might be in!

I had the privledge of seeing and listening to his music at Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie Tx 2 weeks ago. I have always loved his music; even when he was performing with his wife then; Diane. Wish he would perform more in public-----perhaps Bass Hall in Ft Worth??? Keep coming to Scarborough Faire-----more relaxed atmosphere.

He did some of the music in World of Warcraft. It's some of the best music in the game (Argent Tournament anyone?). Brilliant guy, Arkenstone.
Someone earlier said he's shocked the movie industry hasn't taken this guy. It's cause the video game industry already has. ;)

I love David Arkenstone's music. I've been listening since the early nineties. There is always a story being told through his magical sounds that carry me away to other places. since the early 90's I've played his music while giving massage and energy work sessions. I look forward to more awesome music from David.

I agree with Stephanie Hull. We do need Book of Days here.

I have most of David's albums and the breadth and wealth of his imagination is a true gift not only to him, but those of us who love the way it transports us. I use it to choreograph long stretches of writing or as soundtracks for long flights overseas. Once inside the music, you can explore it as you will, relax or let you imagination soar. I can't imagine being without it. His wife Diane also deserves a hearing! And add more Arkenstone to the Pandora mix!

Far better than Hans Zimmer. Mystical, mysterious, adventurous, music that takes your breath away. Extremely talented. Diane Arkenstone is also one to listen too. Can't find her material here. Too bad.
Truly an awesome artist... first time I learned about him and his musical talents, was when WNUA (the best beloved Smooth Jazz station in Chicago, that I miss so much)when Rick O'Dell first played this awesome song... ahhh such memories brought on by this music for Chicago... WNUA... Smooth Jazz... love Pandora for this reason!
David Arkenstone is a creator of inspiring, haunting, mystical, and just plain beautiful music. I listen to David Arkenstone while I write and his music helps fuel my visions of my world. My dreams of my land are powered by the glory of Arkenstone's incredible music. This is more than music though, this is a true gift. If I have ever believed in gods, it is when I am listening to this astounding tapestry of notes. Thank you, David!
Wow, he is truly inspiring! His music speaks such volumes and is a rich tapestry, a true feast for the ears! I agree that his work belongs as an accompaniment to movies.
David is an incredible songwriter and visionary. David's music takes me on a journey whenever I listen to him. I'm surprised the movie industry hasn't discovered him yet as he is every bit as talented (if not more) than Hans Zimmer.

David is also a supporter of Renaissance Faires, and is playing March 20 and 21, 2010 at Sherwood Forest Faire - a renfaire in central Texas. http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/Arkenstone.htm
This is the soundtrack of my dreams. I find myself traveling to many places while immersed in his music. Started listening years ago but find it amazing that he hasn't gone mainstream. David's music makes it easy to visualize an awesome "New World". As an artist myself, I experience his music on many levels, the imagery it evokes is inspirational. "In The Wake Of The Wind" still the favorite.
An incredible composer and inspired musician who can literally play EVERY instrument and does on many of his albums! I recently saw Avatar and, no disrespect to James Horner who is a great composer in his own right, felt myself saying that this is the type of movie that Arkenstone's music would really compliment. Hollywood wake up and sign Mr. Arkenstone to do feature films NOW!!!
I love everything he has ever written, but I love bestly Music Inspired by Middle Earth and Atlantis, which has inspired many a music video in my head and many pretty songs on my ocarina. May he forever create beautiful music.
