Darkest Hour

Washington, D.C.'s Darkest Hour are supporters of the death metal/hardcore merger, founded in the early '90s by such outfits as Carcass and Entombed. Comprising members Mike Schleibaum (guitar), Billups Allen (bass), John Henry (vocals), Fred Ziomek (guitar), and Ryan Parrish (drums), the band formed in the mid-'90s, inking a deal with the New York-based underground metal label MIA Records in 1999. The quintet issued its debut recording a year later, The Mark of the Judas, and was ready to support the release when its label suddenly went out of business.

Label-less but not down and out, Darkest Hour quickly gained the interest of Victory Records, issuing a sophomore effort, So Sedated, So Secure, in July of 2001. It was followed by the release of Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation in 2003, an album proclaimed by Revolver to be a "metalcore classic." Summer 2004 found Darkest Hour with a slot on Ozzfest's second stage. The following February, Darkest Hour released a DVD, Prison Scars and Party Bars: A Thrashography, which documented their first ten years as a band (1995-2005) with music videos, live footage, and interviews. Back on the album front, the well-received Undoing Ruin appeared in June 2005 before A-F Records issued the rarities collection Archives (which included their two earliest EPs, 1996's The Misanthrope and 1999's The Prophecy Fulfilled) that October. Deliver Us arrived in the summer of 2007 followed by Eternal Return in 2009. They supported the album by opening for Trivium on the Summer Slaughter tour.

In April they left Victory after a full decade on the label, and signed with eOne. The Human Romance, produced by Peter Wichers of Soilwork, was issued in February of 2011. The album entered Billboard's Heatseekers chart at number three. After extensive touring, Parrish left the band in December, followed by bassist Paul Burnette six months later. They were eventually replaced by drummer Travis Orbin and bassist Aaron Deal.

The label arrangement with eOne was short-lived; Darkest Hour signed with Sumerian Records in 2013. Producer Taylor Larson (I, the Breather, Periphery) was enlisted and helped the band to craft a new sound that focused more on hook-laden, melodic death songwriting. Simply titled Darkest Hour, the set was issued in August of 2014. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi

Add the new album already for cripe's sake Pandora.
Wow. My friend told me to listen to this band. In glad I did. They rock!!!
This is my first time hearing this song. I'm rather impressed and pissed off be cuz there's so much good music that I have yet to hear
were one of my favorite bands back in highschool
The song demons by this band made me really get into metal back when i was 12.. I like all their songs that ive heard so far and i can honestly say this is my favorite band.
The most rock & metal stations on Pandora Radio!
Great Band. Veritas Aequitas was prolly best track.
Awesome this really gives you a break from all the lighter stuff
Hell yeah. Low is a great track.
this is one of the bands that opened metal up to me. they are so easy to enjoy. even if all of their songs are similarly structured; that vocalist has a great scream
Oh man I loved so sedated so secure in highschool. Glad to see some of their other CD's were good too. Im liking the songs pandora has played from Undoing ruin. I really like Covalence or whatever its called.

Of course pandora likes to play the same songs over and over so I havn't heard much else. This song from Deliver us is pretty good that is on now though.
The So Sedated cover artwork is upside down
the human romance is eh.... still good but not as good as undoing ruin... or the eternal return... love DH i see them every time they roll through az. last time i wrecked a scene kid's day but throwing his a** into another dude trying to stop me from moshing... get some!
vinylcluck
any naysayers of darkest hours s**t can back to b**ching on whos punk/hardcor e / m e t a l on youtube.
i think im big meech!
The bio is kind of run by saying they are influenced by some bands etc. They are influenced but they just added their own style to their band, they can't exactly copy the WHOLE style of a band
My favorite band of all time. \m/
that's the hardcore influence ,liquid skills, in my opinion
the first song off of hidden hands of a sadist nations, it has that angry hardcore feeling to it, political lyrics and Parrish plays more hardcore/thr a h s stuff stead of tons of blast beats like most deathmetal bands.
Bio says arkest Hour is a supporter of the death metal/hardco r e merger, founded in the early '90s by such outfits as Carcass and Entombed.. Does anyone agree with this? I like this band as well as others mentioned but I really do not hear H.C. influences like Agnostic Front, Minor Threat, Judge ect at all.
just herd wound from human romance, f**king bad a**, reminds me of a sadist nation i dont know what you guys are tripen on but these guys still got it
@Niko, Mike does not write most of their stuff...list e n to anything before sadist nation and then listen to Undoing Ruin and Deliver Us...HUGE difference in songwriting, which are also the two albums Kris was on...now he's gone and Eternal Return sounds like a garage band...
even even better light this city...
Even better Heaven Shall Burn....
if you like these guys check out dr. hourai. there kind of sceam-o but there f@#cking crazy
@ Doomsayer, I want to disagree, but I'm not sure if I can. Kris was f**king amazing. Luckily Mike writes most of their stuff so they might be alright. But I wasn't too impressed with The Eternal Return, like, it wasn't bad, just not as good as Deliver Us or Undoing ruin.
These dudes are headed down quickly...No r r i s leaving is the worst thing that could ever happen...Und o i n g Ruin is one of the greatest thrash albums ever...
Darkest Hour is the sh*t!! also check out SkeletonWitc h
Deliver Us is by far their peak album, just a perfect album! A very well rounded band!!!!and damn hard working guys........ . . . .
I know the drummer in real life
THESE GUYS ARE THE S**T!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I really need to get more of these guys stuff!!!
greatest band ever
oh yay?!! well theyre my favorite band and if you say one more word about them i'll rip your face off!
I approve of this band.
dude im with the rest of you, suicide silence blows. it sounds like the effin guitarist is having a seizure on the fretboard. There is no rhythm to their songs. i seriously JUST heard Darkest Hour for the first time, and already realize they're wayy better than Suicide Silence. Seriously, no rhythm at all for SS. A buncha random notes. Sikk drums, but thats about it.
Their first 3 albums are the best ones, but it seems ever since those came out then their most recent stuff is pretty wack.
no suicide silence and darkest hour are both awsome so just leave it at that
their new material sucks so bad, they used to be good. and no suicide silence does infact suck
why don't they have the mark of the judas on hear i like that album... and suicide silence kicks a** i don't know what you guys are talking about
ya suicide silence sucks balls they would slow darkest hour down
I personally think darkest hour and suicide silence making an album together is probably the worst idea i've ever heard. Suicide Silence is beyond terrible. I used to be so into darkest hour when Hidden hands of a sadist nation came out, then I didn't listen to much after that, but I saw them like 6 months ago and they're still pretty good.
I personally think it would be AMAZING if Darkest hour teamed up with Suicide Silence and made an album >> ;>

But I Absolutly LOVE this f**king band, there sick, and i havent been disapointed by a single song on any album..instr a m e n t a l l y + l y r i c a l l y . I can listen to these guys over and over and never get tired.
great band. i personally like between the buried and me, all shall perish, conducting from the grave and wretched more. more vocally dynamic and the guitarists are a little better. these guys are still better than me though so they kick a**.
I only moderately care about screaming and hardcore, but the melodies and solos these guys employ are ridiculous!
i know looking at him you would asume hes... an accountant or something.lo l
why dose he look so nerdy in that picture haha
arsena
Eternal Return is good but Undoing Ruin is my favorite.
The new album is phenomenal.
