Song of The Chanter. Really, really beautiful. I think they used this one in the movie Gangs of New York. I really enjoyed that movie and if you watch very carefully at the end it shows the twin towers. The story is about the area that surrounded the twin towers in New York. AWESOME, AWESOME movie. I'm going to buy this movie because this was the best thing I've ever seen about the happenings of the bombings. My Mom passed during the 9/11 at 12:30 am. So, it means alot to me.
They've here a couple of times, and I've been lucky to do workshops with a couple folks in the group. I had a laugh at their bio on the page, about their relationship with Liam Clancy's studio -- it's only natural since their guitarist is Liam's son, Donal.
So nice to come across a Danu track after a High Kings/Celtic Woman-heavy set. ;) Nothing against HK/CW, they sing very nicely - but these guys are so REAL - it's like walking out of an overheated museum into the beginnings of a good snowstorm. ^_^
Danu is awesome! They played not that long ago in my hometown of Virginia Beach, but I didn't find that out until they had already played here. Hopefully they will come back and I will be able to finally see them.
A superb Irish traditional band! Muireann (pronouced: mwi-ren) told me that Danú has a new album which will be released soon. Muireann has her own solo album called, Daybreak: Fáinne an lae, which anyone will enjoy, if you already like Danú. Another band member, Oisin McAuley, also has his own album, if you like the sound of Donegal fiddle style. Sláinte!
Aye, eh MacKenzie provides fodder for us goats! (even though we'll eat anythin', your eval. is right on.) Love to hear 'em live!!!

i was lucky enough to see these guys live several years ago in Berkeley, Cal. they're INCREDIBLE. not just good, but outrageously energetic and enthusiastic . The music seems to completely permeate them. It's awe inspiring to see such a young group with so much understanding of their music, and the ability (one and all) to convey it to their listeners! i like justin z's comment below- they really are a new generation of the Chieftains- with the skills to justify that accolade!
