Emo-leaning and volatile post-hardcore outfit Dance Gavin Dance, who were somewhat similar to peers Chiodos and the Fall of Troy, featured former members of Farewell Unknown and Ghost Runner on Third, two alums of Seattle's Less Avenged Records. The Sacramento crew comprised vocalists Jonny Craig (later replaced by Kurt Travis) and Jonathan Mess, guitarists Will Swan and Sean O'Sullivan, bassist Eric Lodge, and drummer Matt Mingus. The sextet hooked up with Rise Records in 2006 and debuted that November with the EP Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean. They released three albums, all of which were issued on Rise, from 2007 through 2009. ~ Corey Apar, Rovi
I think Tilian is gonna be so good for them. I usually hate the higher pitched voices like his, but he's solid. It's such an amazing line up right now. I'm so ready for the US tour this fall.
their new singer f**king sucks look it up on youtube while they are on there tout but they still sound the same thank god its just the singer that we might have to adapt to >.<
My son is named after this band. Gavin, thanks to his father. But I really do find the music very funky and fun. I love Kurt Travis too. I just wish Jonny Craig had his priorities straight.
I went to see DGD at a concert about a week ago. Tillian's voice is on a totally different level, and he has a completely different style. But his stage presence was almost overflowing with cockiness. To the point it was slightly annoying. They announced that once the tour was over (which it is now) that they were going to record a new album. In my opinion, Mess, Mingus, and Swan make the band now, so I'm not too bummed. Who knows, Kurt may come back instead of being with A Lot Like Birds~ Ev
