For a brief time in the early '90s, the supergroup Damn Yankees enjoyed a considerable amount of success on the arena rock circuit. Comprised of guitarist Ted Nugent, Styx's Tommy Shaw, Night Ranger's Jack Blades, and drummer Michael Cartellone, Damn Yankees arrived during the final moments of pop-metal's heyday, and their music didn't stray from that radio-friendly format at all. The group's self-titled debut album spawned several hits in 1990, including the Top Ten power ballad "High Enough" and the radio hit "Coming of Age." Although they proved to be a popular concert draw (Nugent even made headlines for his unchained behavior on-stage, which included shooting arrows into an effigy of Saddam Hussein), the band's follow-up effort, Don't Tread, didn't fare nearly as well. The group disbanded soon after, with Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades continuing to work together as Shaw Blades. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
Great band, bad timing...had they formed in 1980 would have been huge, but they all have had great careers and Ted is still kicking a** in concert..catch him if you can
i understand people have opinions, i understand the right to free speech.. but seriously why do people leave negative comments- if you dont like the music then simply fast foward the song. Let the ones that enjoy this genre have their comment playground without the downers.
why do you think hes called uncle ted blade shaw made some of the best of the decade better than you can get these days rock and roll forever long live the beast

I followed Ted Nugent as a 14 year old kid and loved Styx when they became big and then came along Night Ranger and loved their music...When I heard of Damn Yankees, not really familiar with their music yet, I fell in love of just the Idea of (in my opinion) three of some of the best bands of the 70's and 80's forming a band. I listened to a few of their songs and ...WOW GREAT I saw their "Don't Tread On Me" concert they opened for Jackel and blew them away ...the best concert I have ever seen!
TED IS A NUT CASE AND I LOVE HIM FOR THAT,HE SAYS HOW HE FEELS NOT ONLY THRU MUSIC BUT HE WILL TELL YOU WHERE THE BEAR S**T'S IN THE WOODS TO YOUR FACE IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.. I GOT TO HUNT SUNRISE ACRES FOR HOGS AND HE IS A MAN TRUE TO HIS WORD,BEST TIME HUNTING IN MY LIFE
I agree Rick, I saw the same concert and had the same feeling. Everyone was standing for Damn Yankees and when Bad Company came, everyone sat back down. I stayed for the whole show and Bad Company was good, just not the show that Damn Yankees was that night.
Saw Damn Yankees in concert in 92. Came on as the warm up band for Bad Company that night. They had they entire stadium up on their feet rockin.
Ted was shooting flaming arrows at a Saddam doll across the stage. They were a great live show. Bad Company didn't have a chance that night, left half way thru their set wishing they had been setting up Damn Yankees instead of the other way around, would have been a hell of show.
Too bad they couldn't keep the magic going a little longer.
I would hardly call groups like Soundgarden and Pearl Jam lacking in talent. But the so-called 'pop-punk' that followed? I agree.

These guys were absolutely awesome. For me, their fading out of the pop music scene sort of marked a sad trend in music. The "Seattle grunge" genre that took over at that point was (and still is) absolutely awful. We went from bands that had actual musicians and artists to those that played songs with two chords and monotonous lyrics. Ever wonder why you don't hear any songs with a guitar solo in it anymore? It's because most of the bands aren't skilled enough to read music or play an entire

Ted, you still got it. Sing great, awesome bow hunter, great show. Watch you all the time. Gonna shoot my 1st deer this fall. My man's got me practicing. Love your way of thinking. How about running for president. I think you can do a lot better then what we are getting lately.
Ramon,go back to listening to New Kids on the Block, becasue you obviously do not know Rock n roll!! there is no argument that can be made that any of these guys or groups are bad to mediocre. Nugent is one of the best guitarist in rock n roll!! tommy Shaw and nick blades were great in thier own groups, Damn Yankees, and as a due with Shaw Blades.
How can you lay to claim that 3 bad-to-mediocre people from bad-to-mediocre bands and say Ted Nugent in the same phrase? If anything, Damn Yankees were ahead of their time.

In no way were they awful. You create two nationally known hits and talk to me then.
