One of my favorite Neil Young songs...
We should never forget the four who died at kent state. They were young college students with a future ahead of them. Taken away by stupidity
Just sounds so ridiculously good...!

Ballad. Of an Era !!!! Great stuff...seri o u s stuff !!!!!!
It sounds like Stills
The best of the best. Great singers, great music, great time! Love it!

This one never leaves you like, Marvin Gaye's Mercey Mercey Me.
I believe its Stills or Crosby on the ending with the call and response

No better Anti-War anthem than this!
not sure this generation understands that change can happen but it is a struggle and can be dangerous
I remember... There's nothing else I can say. The song is the standard-bea r e r for our generation.
wolftooth
we lost the war :(
Once you get to about :35 remaining, who is the backing singer?
Still sends shivers up my spine--40 years later.
it is NOT 'should have been done long ago'; rather it is
'should have been GONE long ago'
The age of reason!
sad time in our life but it had to be said.
Maybe the best protest song ever...?
I wrote my senior paper on what happened at Kent State. My Dad had a book about it & I read it. Powerfull song.
Every radio station in America should play this song often to remind everyone that the Army will turn on it's own people through blind obedience to bogus authority (Richard Nixon in this case)4 DEAD in OHIO!

The 60's&70's.Wh a t a time in america !!!
Trolls stink, skonjie... why would you want to be one?

Skonjie IS actually a moron, but s/he is also just a pot-stirrer. I have seen posts on other artists/chan n e l s by this same person, and they are always statements designed to get people wound up. Don't bother.
jlinck1
Skonjie, you are a complete moron. Without "opened up" culture, we would be nothing short of a fascist state.
@ keith - sounds like Stephen Stills to me

great protest song
I think the hippies are the problem with generations of today. The hippies opened up culture way too much in short period of time. (eg. Drugs, free love, and protests)
where is all that hope our generation had? actions speak louder than words
Memories

Anyone remember "The Great D.C. Mobe?" Hoo-aah!The tear gas was free.
the sixties had hope -- the 21st century as yet has none
What goes on now kinda makes the nixon era look like the boy scouts no?
i remember this.
man, these were the good ol' days. am i right?
tin soldiers and Nixon back in the 70s
lmliro
Great period piece.
Remember when music actually has something meaningful to say. This song is so so powerful.
Wasn't the ROTC building at Kent burned down before the shooting?
Tony I miss you!!!
More of Neil Young's brilliance. This was the anthem of every college student in the 70's. We need to remember because it seems we have forgot the lessons of Vietnam

"Those that dont know history are destined to repeat it" - Edmund Burke
This music is the one we must listen to, in this days, because it is happening again.

Great song.. very contemporary - sadly !
What if you knew her? What if you knew them - those still dying in Afghanistan & Iraq. Stop the madness !!
It's crazy that I've been on this earth to see so long! Lots of it cazy bad, bad stuff...Lots of music to commemorate the eras passed. Sometimes the same music comes back around. FUNNY, sometimes I still feel like I'm in the 8th grade! Especially when I hear an old song from the 60's; those old feelings come right back to me.

Let's not let history repeat itself
djones2112
This song IS the 70s

Guess you had to live through this. 4 dead in Ohio. 4 unarmed American citizens/col l e g e students, 2 of whom were protesting the war in Vietnam, and two of whom were just attending classes during the demonstratio n , shot down by their own military, lying in pools of their own blood on the ground of their own nation. Allison Krause, Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Knox Schroeder.
For What It's Worth, Peace CSNY
