Four and twenty years ago, I come into this life, The song of a woman and a man who lived in strife. He was tired of being poor and he wasn't into selling door to door And he worked like the devil to be more.

Gets me a little crazy when such a powerful and meaningful song, so brilliantly delivered, becomes the backdrop for inane comments about police codes. Not saying I don't make my share of inane comments...it's just that it's a little frustrating with this song in particular and makes me feel ashamed for us all.
wow are you kidding 4/20 ? police protocol for pot? NO you just don't get it look when this song was written people did not call it 420 back then. My god how dumb! "four and twenty years ago I come in to this land", think about it

wtf people do you actually hear the lyrics? the guy compares the hopeless poverty of his parents to that of his loneliness and he wishes he was dead. has nothing to do with pot.
