CCR is linked in my memory to the VN War and the protests. Not sure why. God bless our veterans...and keep on chooglin'!

I like CCR's Suzie Q, but the band was at its best when it turned in two- to three-minute gems like Bootleg and Proud Mary. Long acid-rock jams become monotonous, although I must say that CCR's are a lot more engaging than those generated by other San Francisco bands in the late 1960s. CCR was blessed with a great rhythm section.
By far, my favorite CCR rock ballad. Love the long jamming version. Was kinda disappointed when I saw John Fogerty in concert last year at the AZ State Fair and he didn't play this song,.. But he did do a long jamming version of Heard It On the Grapevine.
This is the real version that should be used everywhere. The other version has the length but not the heart - in particular, it has a guitar solo I could play with my eyes shut - but this one here is a classic bit of shredding that showcases the raw talent that made CCR great.
Among so many other things about this song, I love the way it both fades in and fades out. It's almost as if we're just listening to a short, 8-minute bit of a hypnotic song that actually plays for eternity...
fogerty such an underarted guitar talent---he was so good at lyrics, singing, we forget about his guitar play-----one of the true music talents of rock and roll

Fabulous song. Timeless. A bridge section that could go on for weeks.
Sir Guy, thanks for your service in what was by then a very unpopular war.

If Sir Guy is telling the truth, it's quite a story and God bless him for his sacrifce to our contry. If not, well . . .
This song is great. I've always loved the stereo mix of this song. Vocals and guitar licks bouncing around in my head. Beatles did this too in later albums.
Love the obvious vacuum tube warmth in the mastering. The mix here on pandora is different than I am familliar with, with extended effects and guitar jamming. I am nearly convinced to seek out and acquire it.
At the end of VietNamn War I led 6 Marines into battle against 50 enemy soldiers to liberate some of our captured Wariors while singing the song, also gave the victory sign while yelling "Free The Warriors"...endearing this song forever in my heart as a memory of courage and valor for those few brave Marines.PEACE!

This version is the proper version. The one labeled "Susie Q" is recorded improperly.
