Camp Lo is a rap group from the Bronx who melds hip-hop with jazz sensibilities and funk. After having a hit single, "Coolie High," from The Great White Hype soundtrack in early 1996, they released their debut album, Uptown Saturday Night, in February 1997. The album was reissued two years later on Arista Records, and a second album (Let's Do It Again) finally appeared in 2002. Five years later, Camp Lo returned with Black Hollywood (2007), their third album. It was produced entirely by Ski Beatz, who had worked with the duo on their previous albums as well. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
This single made me HAVE to find out more about them. Found this full album posted on YouTube and was amazed! Got on Amazon right away and bought it. Been playing it for the past month virtually non-stop. Solid CD all the way through!
Stephen Thomas Erlewine didn't give Camp Lo justice with that weak review. Uptown Saturday Night....one of the most slept on hip hop albums of all times.
