The Birmingham, Alabama-based hard rock quartet Brother Cane was formed in 1990 by singer/guitarist Damon Johnson and bassist Glen Maxey; originally called Chyld, the group's line-up was soon complete with the addition of guitarist Roman Glick and drummer Scott Collier. After signing to Virgin Records, Brother Cane issued their self-titled debut LP in 1993, with the first single "Got No Shame" becoming a major hit at AOR radio; a short time later, however, Maxey quit the band, at which time Glick assumed bass duties, and with new guitarist David Anderson they soon returned to the studio to begin work on 1995's Seeds. Wishpool followed in 1998, launching the hit "I Lie in the Bed I Make." ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
I am really happy to hear that. Thin Lizzy has been one of my favs since 1979! I listen to Brother Cane all the time, and I saw Brother Cane in Spokane at a little club in 1997 or 98! It was a fantastic show! I would love to see them again! Signed, Nona
Great '90s band that had continued success into Y2K. Their first two albums are awesome in deed, their last album doesn't suck either! Wish they'd release another album one of these days. I love the soulful bluesy-rock sound that they are so good at producing. If you like BroCane, check out Slave to the System - a mixture of BroCane & Queensrych. I've had it for a couple of months now and dig it too!
One of my favorites from the 90's. Picked up their first CD on a discount rack in the mid 90's and was super surprised at how great they were when I got it home and on the CD player. Hard to believe they weren't more popular cuz they really were one of the bands responsible for making me believe that hard rock didn't die in the 80's... and yes, Fools Shine On is one of the great rock songs ever.
Spent 20 years in upstate sc arera (greenville/spartanburg - even cahrlotte,nc0 these guy were HUGE in the late 90's there, deservedly so! They punctuate the soundtrack to my late 20's & earlt 30's. Good alt rock & fantastic lyrics. This band is sorely misserd - especially since moving to california 2 yrs ago. lomg live the bros cane!
Yes... they do indeed have 3 albums. There's even a "Best Of" collection out there too. They were one of the BEST live bands I've ever seen, and I've been going to concerts since I was 7 years old. (I'm 39, btw.) They are also really cool guys. Met them several times, even got to hang out on the bus after one show. Damon is doing tons of other stuff. Google- Motorbelly, Whiskey Falls. Dave is playing for Atlanta Rhythm Section, last I heard. Roman is with Jackyl. Scott has vanished.
Great band.....saw them live a couple times....once opening up for Van Halen, and another in a bar in Des Moines....Damon Johnson is a great leadman/guitarist!
