A South Louisiana swamp pop staple during the 1950s and '60s, the Boogie Kings reformed in 1991 and found their regional support as healthy as ever (even back on the same label they began with, Floyd Soileau's Jin Records). Founders Doug Charles, Elbert Miller, and Skip Morris had departed, but with Duane Yates fronting, the Kings still pumped out satisfying swamp soul. ~ Bill Dahl, Rovi
Thank you all so much for your kind words, my Dad was Ned Theall and it blesses us (his children) so much to see that his 60 years of hard work have blessed so many with music that can't be beat!

Continued from previous comment.
Jon Smith (White Trash) (Toto) etc. etc. gave my son a sax lesson at that barbecue at my home. Jon also wanted to cut off his little toe if I would give him my fishing boat! Serious! He is a Joker! Dwayne Yates was one talented singer for sure! We also love GG Shin and Jerry Lacroix who they are still performing in 2013! Rest in peace Ned, and Dwayne. Your friends G.R. and M.R. from N.I. LA.

In the early 90's my wife and I stopped by at Poets nightclub in Lafayette Louisiana at about 11PM. I was shocked and in awe at what I heard and saw that night! A 10 piece horn band that was frigin awesome! They played all the great dance music that I used to listen to in the early 70's! Met the leader Ned Theall and we became close friends until his death about 20 years later. Also had a big barbecue at my home before one of their gigs and some great musicians were at my home. MORE
Grew up in Beaumont and hardly ever missed a Friday or Saturday at The Big Oaks.Gotta love those Boogie Kings, middle 60's til they closed the Oaks.First heard them when Clint West was lead singer, but they were all great!
