Contemporary jazz singer/guitarist Bobby Caldwell was born August 15, 1951, in Manhattan, NY; his parents, Bob and Carolyn, were the hosts of the television variety show Suppertime and exposed the child to a wide variety of musical influences. Caldwell began studying piano and guitar at age 12; he initially pursued a career in rock & roll but was equally adept at playing jazz and R&B and at 17 took his band on the road to play the Las Vegas circuit. From there the group moved on to Los Angeles, but despite recording an album titled Kathmandu, Caldwell enjoyed little success and eventually returned to his parents home in Miami. There he began work on his 1978 breakthrough album What You Won't Do for Love, scoring a hit single with the title cut. Efforts including a 1979 self-titled LP, The Cat in the Hat, and Carry On followed, and although Caldwell enjoyed a strong following at home, he became a superstar in Japan. He shifted creative gears with 1996's Blue Condition, a collection of big band-era standards; the similarly themed Come Rain or Come Shine followed three years later. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Not everyone who sings the Great American Songbook sounds like Sinatra. Bobby Caldwell sounds nothing like Sinatra. His bio is deservedly short, and says a lot. Not exceptionally accomplished minor talent. Prefer Connick and Buble of the living stylists.
you said it birdie5626!!! Man...I'm in love! And I agree with you millerc4063...no one will ever be like Sinatra, but this is the second artist that's popped up that I truly thought was my idol, Harry Connick Jr!!!! I adore pandora music stations!!!!
Thanks to Pandora, I just heard Bobby Caldwell for the first time, and I plan to listen to more of him. The man has a great voice and I am enjoying his compositions.
Love Bobby Caldwell but it's June 18th and 95 degrees in Chicago. Why are you still playing Baby its' Cold Outside a song usually associated with the Holidays. Just wondering...

I thank the Lord that Sir Bobby Caldwell was here. His music changed my life.
Smooth, Bobby C; Smooth... For a minute there I though it was Frank Sinatra on a earlier recording before his vocie started sounding like a muscle for a one of the east-coast- family; if you know what I mean.
Bobby has always been my favorite 'voice' to go back to when I need some soothing and 'feel good', dig? I know all that love this guy feel the same way. He's like taking 'Tylenol' when you got a headache...all pain leaves when he whispers in your ear.
My younger brother was just asking me about the song, "What you won't do for Love." I still have the album somewhere. Used to listen to it all the time
Bobby Caldwell ... one of the greatest singers, writers and composers in the Biz. My favorite album, Heart O' mine ... incredible! Boz Skaggs, another FAVE of mine did a few of his great songs. Hey Bobby when will you perform at The Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida or anywhere else in South FLA??
I can remember coming home as a kid in the late 70's and stealing my sister's Bobby Caldwell albums and getting lost...Come to me, My flame...good stuff man. I saw him live at the Blue Note in NYC years later and he was amazing! simply amazing!

Seen in concert in Colorado twice and he sounds as good if not better in person. Smooth and consistent voice. Real pleasure to see in concert and does a meet-and-greet after each show. Great person and performer.
He is the baddest 'blue-eyed' soul singer that laid the groundwork for Robin Thicke, Justin T. and all the upcoming 'blue-eyed soulstirs' Love this man!
