Blue-Eyed Son

Singer/songwriter Andrew Heilprin composes a tangible and more subdued sound compared to his days fronting the SoCal punk band 40 Watt Domain. He honors Bob Dylan by giving himself the moniker of Blue-Eyed Son. His collection of 50-some songs followed him on a trip to Hawaii in 2002 to meet with the folks at Volcano Records, however, the bulk of those songs were lost after Heilprin's laptop burned out. Not all was lost and luckily for Heilprin, four songs were salvaged. He recorded those four songs as a demo to send to labels. The indie imprint Eeenie Meenie received a copy and was impressed with Heilprin's heartfelt presentation. Blue-Eyed Son made his proper debut in spring 2004 with West of Lincoln. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi

"The Tide" just came on my Elliott Smith station and I had to check to see if it was him or even Smith playing with Heatmiser. Not bad.
I LOVE this song! I was just getting into Elliott Smith when I heard "The Tide" and I was surprised to find that it was actually by Blue-Eyed Son. Its great to find a current artist who will explore and perpetuate the styles of beloved artists and bands like Elliott Smith and The Beatles. Cheers! :)

I definitely thought of elliot smith when I heard this, not a bad thing; glad there's some new music being put out in his style.

It's not enough to say that Blue-Eyed Son is an Elliott Smith wannabe. That's obvious. Blue-Eyed Son may lack originality, but he fills the void left by Elliott Smith better than anyone else I've ever heard, and we should be thankful there is someone still here to keep that torch burning so brightly.
Heard "The Tide" and yes I thought it sounded a lot like Elliott, but the vocals got pretty monotonous halfway through the track. I guess I'll listen to a few more songs--he does sound better than most of those Jack Johnson acoustic-sur f e r - r o c k spinoffs.
The cover of "I threw it all away" is a marvelous interpretati o n .
Agreed that this song sounds inspired by an Elliott 'happy song.' Which makes me sad; I long for the authentic.
sounds like another elliott smith wannabe.
:o no commentage? well this band is pretty rad. its kinda similar to bright eyes i thing, with the sweetness of it
