Southern rockers Black Stone Cherry originally hailed from a small rural town in south central Kentucky. According to bandmembers, none of whom were born before 1983, the lack of anything to do in their hometown, coupled with a rich musical background in their community and families, led them to start playing music. Lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Robertson met drummer John Fred Young (the son of Kentucky Headhunters' Richard Young) in school, and the two played music together throughout high school. In June of 2001, Black Stone Cherry officially formed with guitarist Ben Wells and bassist Jon Lawhon. They began holding shows at clubs in the area, and after a short while they gained a large following of people of all ages in the town. The band recorded its first album for In de Goot/Roadrunner Records, and after returning from the recording session, Black Stone Cherry held a homecoming concert at the local high school. Their self-titled debut album was released in July of 2006, followed by Folklore and Superstition in 2008. The fiery rockers third album, 2011's Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson (Daughtry, Three Days Grace). ~ Megan Frye, Rovi
They oughta do a modern southern rock tour...I'm thinking open it with Kings of Leon, then have Saving Abel, then Black Stone Cherry, and then headline it with Theory of a Deadman. BOOM! best concert ever!
Saw these guys at a couple of small venues and two summers ago at Moondance Jam in Walker Minnesota, they have never disappointed, put on a great show with lots of energy and good music every time.
Between these guys and Kings of Leon, I'm starting to develop a greater appreciation for modern southern rock. If this is the direction they're heading, I think I can get on board with that.
I've ridden the rock wave since 1965, felt the srong surges and suffered in the weak eras. We've been in a good place for years now thanks to Soundgarden,Stone Temple Pilots, Foofighters, Puddle of Mud, Seether, Muse, Oasis, Creed, and a hundred others. Black Stone Cherry is worth the money but can they find the illusive ingredients needed to become a top tier alt - rock band ? I hope so.

Black Stone Cherry is awesome in concert! Love the modern spin on good ole Southern Rock! They will not disappoint. Each album is better than the last. My new favorite group.

Thank you for the return of Southern Rock. Black Stone Cherry and Theory Of A Deadman together. What a concert that would be!

i had never heard of these guys and saw them open for buckcherry at a small club in nashville in 2006. Absolutely blew me away with their live show, suprised so many people are paying attention to seether and theory and not them.

Great band and put on a really good fun live show. Also a great bunch of guys, fun to talk to and just enjoy life. Its always nice to be able to talk to a band after a show and get them to sign your shirts and get free music. Love em!
Fatty, did yo mama let you fall out from her a**hole???

I love them, they do not in any way sound like godsmack or skynyrd so obviously Blue Fatty you have no f**king idea what you are talking about so shut the f**k up and go listen to ur b**ch boy bieber.
pretty damn decent band. the guitarist definitely has a lot of potential. but the singer kind of irritates me alot at some moments in some of their songs. but with the right producer these guys could kick a hell of a lot more a** then they are currently doing.

I've only heard good songs from this band, and I doubt that'll ever change.
Outlaw Jam in Frederick Md. was an awsome show BSC and Bad Co. stole the show totally

Between Rockford, Chicago and a few other locations I think I have seen them five times and was never disappointed. The entire band is in constant motion and the music is incredible. I wish I had a live recording because they are wicked in concert.
If you like the sound of this band at all. . . .you HAVE to see them live!! John Fred is a monster on the drums. . .maybe not the most accurate drummer, but his stage presence makes up for any 'misses'. These guys play way over their collective ages. Chris sings like any singer with years of vocal training (maybe he has. . . .).I hope they build a stronger following here in the states. They are headliners at the download fest in the UK.
