Detroit's the Black Dahlia Murder, named for the infamous 1947 slaying of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short, aka the Black Dahlia, actually sounds like they should live in Scandinavia, whence originates much of the frenetic brand of death and black metal that inspires them. Formed in January 2001, the Black Dahlia Murder followed their six-song What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse demo with the four-track A Cold-Blooded Epitaph EP, which was released on their own Lovelost Records. Having already made a number of acclaimed concert appearances (e.g., the Milwaukee Metal Fest), the group -- comprised of vocalist Trevor Strnad, guitarists Brian Eschbach and Jon Kemppainen, bassist David Lock, and drummer Cory Grady -- signed with Metal Blade in 2003 and was soon recording its debut album, Unhallowed. The 2005 release Miasma and 2007's Nocturnal kept death metal as the group's foundation, though the band began exhibiting an increasingly melodic streak that came to fruition on 2009's brutal but majestic Deflorate. The group's fifth studio album, Ritual, arrived in the summer of 2011. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
Best band ever i use to lisn to rap an a buddy of mine got me into tbdm in 07 with nocturnal an dont get me wrong i was always a metal head as well i use to lisn to in flames the jesters dance an then i lisnd to warborn an instantly i was hooked TBDM fo life
I'm actually looking forward to them being at warped tour, because the people reactions will be f**kin hilarious. You'll get a bunch of kids walking away from one place, laughing or some crap, then they see/hear TBDM, and they shut up and silently walk away, terrified, yet better for the experience.
Anybody that's worried about TBDM selling out because of warped tour should check out their news feeds. You can find an interview with Trevor online (youtube worked for me) where he's saying they're just there to scare the s**t out of some kids that have never heard their music. I checked out their latest single and it's still heavy as f**k. no worries, guys. the black dahlia murder lives on.
Yeah, when I heard about the Warped Tour thing I was like "What?" but regardless of where they PLAY, they PLAY good music. I just hope they don't get too famous, the last thing I want to see is posers....
>.> Other chics are weirded out that I listen to this but yeah they can go listen to pop music... some people just don't and never will understand good music, I feel sorry for them. BDM is the S**t!
Straight up geiniuses! (idk if i spelled that right lol) One of my favorite bands hands down, Can't wait to see them at Warped Tour! August 4th Houston TX! I wanna smoke with them sooo bad lmao
Right Zach?? It amazes me how they just keep getting better and better. Every album has a distinct sound that differs from the one before. Yet in the end they stay true to their roots & keep it f**king brutal. All these trendy bands that keep coming out don't offer anything substantial which hasn't been done yet. In phx az where I live the scene itself has slowly been dieing since 2010. If not sooner. Filled with kids more interested in some kind of fashion show & social status as opposed to sta
Montoya called it as it is. TBDM is by far my favourite of the genre currently. Each time a new CD comes out they only top their previous best. Here's to hoping what's next follows the same trend! I want to see them top 'Hate'.
