English singer/pianist Jasmine van den Bogaerde, who goes by the stage name “Birdy,” was born in 1996 in Lymington, Hampshire. Precocious from the very start, Bogaerde began composing her own songs at the age of seven, and by 12 had secured the top spot (out of 10,000 competitors) at 2008’s Open Mic UK, a popular live music competition that rewards the winner with a recording contract. I thought I was impressive musically, but listening to her voice and learning she started composing at only 7? She is truly an inspiration :D hopefully I can become as successful as her when I'm 16 :)

@ktkofcss it is originally Bon Iver's song and both Birdy and Ed Sheeran have done covers of it, just FYI. I love this song and the versions from all 3 are wonderfully done!
Um yeah she is amazing i first found out about her from the hunger games soundtrack "just a game" was totally my fav song and her voice is just plain awesome!
i love birdy! anyone know of any songs on her albums that she has written herself? hearing her version of skinny love makes me cry every time i listen to it.
Stop hating it just a rendition:/ She might not be as good as the original but it certainly dose not make her an awful singer or else we wouldn't be hearing her version of it and yes I LIKED what she did to the song it was different :)

She's cool, she has a great look, and she's great at the piano, but I'm just kind of offended by what she did to Skinny Love... I think her voice is just average, honestly... there aren't really any unique qualities to it.
She ruined it........no offense to Birdy,I love her music,but I hate how she only makes covers to songs that aren't very known and she ruins some of them.She can't even make her own songs like most artists,she has to make covers........I think she's completely capable of making her own material.
