Bill Champlin

Singer/songwriter/keyboard player/guitarist Bill Champlin has been a rock journeyman in a career dating back to the 1960s. Starting in 1966, Champlin was the pivotal figure in a San Francisco-based group called the Sons of Champlin that existed and made records off and on for over a decade without gaining a great deal of notice. In 1981, Champlin became a member of Chicago, with whom he has recorded and toured ever since, while releasing the occasional solo album, sometimes only in Japan. He scored two singles chart entries in 1982 with "Tonight Tonight" and "Sara," duetted with Patti LaBelle on "The Last Unbroken Heart" from the soundtrack to the TV series Miami Vice in 1987, and sang with Brenda Russell on jazz saxophonist Tom Scott's Keep This Love Alive album in 1991. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi

I grew up on The Sons in they played my high school dance at Eureka High one year 1960 something blew me away and the music still does Bill and the Sons were like angels for me and kept me on a positive vibe growing up When I think of clowns like Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlake making the big money these days and think of how these guys never got the credit they deserve or the money

Listen to Bills efforts on "Single" and "Runaway". It's a who's who of talented musicians. My all time favorite solo album is "Burn Down the Night".
I agree and double the sentiments of you all. Bill is one of those GREATS! that is deeply under-rated and little recognised. The Son's were running circles around B S and T and Chicago at the time. Bill's still writing and recording awesome stuff today.

Driving voice for many years since late 60s * 70s in Sons of Champlin & Chicago starting in 80s .. Check out Sons of Champlin Live put out in 90s. " Loosen up Naturally" is great double album for its time and still sounds fresh today. They were in the forefront of Environmenta l i s m , Spiritualism , Conservation , Urban Sprawl before many knew what it was.
