During the late '80s and early '90s, Big Head Todd & the Monsters (the Colorado-based trio of guitarist/keyboard player Todd Park Mohr, bassist Rob Squires, and drummer Brian Nevin) built their audience through constant touring, playing college towns across the country. With these tours, they built a solid fan base before they had even signed to a major label. Although they released a number of records, they weren't quite able to transfer the live appeal of their laid-back, slightly jazzy blues-based pop to disc. Nevertheless, each of their records contains many fine moments, and 1993's Sister Sweetly, which went gold and stayed in the charts over a year, showed that they were continuing to improve their songwriting as well as their playing. It was followed by their second major-label album, Strategem, in 1994; Beautiful World appeared in 1997, followed a year later by Live Monsters. Big Head Todd & the Monsters were dropped from Warner after Live Monsters and the band took four years to regroup and release Riviera in 2002. Crimes of Passion followed in 2004 on the Sanctuary label. The group released one more record on Sanctuary -- Live at the Fillmore -- before departing the label for their own Big Records, releasing All the Love You Need in 2007 and Rocksteady three years later. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
Saw them at Red Rocks a few years ago, took my dad for father's day. Was so much fun!! Have been a fan since Sister Sweetly! (I'm also from Boulder, CO so have had much more exposure to them then your avg person.
Cannot believe what a find these guys are! Didn't hear of them until they opened for Barenaked Ladies at Nokia in L.A. with Cracker and Blues Traveler in 2012. We are hooked! Just saw them at the Coach House in So Cal. Awesome!!!
20 years later midnight radio is still on of my favorite albums of all time

Love everything I hear by these guys & have been listening for years now. Want to see them but the ultimate would be to see them at Red Rocks! Live in S. Ga. so I'm holding out for that chance.
I am from Colombia and never heard them until Ravinia in Chicago this summer...now love them!

I could listen to this guys ALL DAY!!! Now my kids share in my love for them...My 13 yr old looks forward to when they come into town we love catching their shows.
This music makes me think of Kevin! I'll always love him. I would have never known who this band was if it were not for a charming city boy from Denver.
Midnight Radio was a poorly produced album, sonically numb. Sister Sweetly on the on the other hand one of the finest peices of art my ears have come across. Those sounds still haunt me when I'm looking all over the dial today for something to get into, which never happens. I end up way left of the dial on some public radio or college station. Good thing is I only paid $3 for Midnight Radio on Amazon.
Saw BHTM at Cain's Ballroom a few months ago - fantastic! Bought Midnight Radio many years ago, then discovered all the newer stuff via iTunes. I keep coming back to download more and more. Their web site is awesome - check it out and listen to their complete discography over the internet.
I have loved BHT since I first heard Sister Sweetly. Excellent live, every single freaking time. Best band ever! Look to find the early album "Midnight Radio" It is awesome!
BHTM has been touring with Carbon Leaf lately--while a BHTM show rarely disappoints, if you missed the shows, catch Carbon Leaf next time they come through your town. Great band.

Broken Hearted Savior is the definitive kick a** sorrow laden blues song! Goes well with Bourbon or even better with a single malt scotch

Saw them with the Samples at Red Rocks back in 94 or 95. Two of my favorite bands in one venue....cant say who was better, both were great, and different. To date that was the best night of music I have witnessed.
