Beegie Adair

Beegie Adair grew up in Cave City, Kentucky, where she began taking piano lessons at age five. She continued to study piano throughout college, earning a B.S. in Music Education at Western State University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. During and after college, she played in jazz bands, and spent three years teaching music to children before moving to Nashville, where she became a session musician, working at WSM-TV and on The Johnny Cash Show (1969-71). She and her husband also started a jingle company to write music for commercials. In 1982, she and saxophonist Denis Solee formed the Adair-Solee Quartet, which evolved into the Be-Bop Co-Op, a jazz sextet. She made her first album under her own name, Escape to New York, with a rhythm section consisting of Bob Cranshaw and Gregory Hutchinson. But her subsequent albums, The Frank Sinatra Collection, The Nat King Cole Collection, and Jazz Piano Christmas, were made with bassist Roger Spencer and drummer Chris Brown. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi

She is so good at what she does it brings tears to my eyes-joyful!
very inventive arrangements , but always a lilting melody involved with chord progression
Perfect touch, timing and interpretati o n of melodious music that will last and last. As a Dallas resident and native Texan who cherishes the being in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Beegie
makes her native state proud by being such an accomplished artist.
Continue the good work, gal! Your listeners are guaranteed.
great!!!! and romantic!!!! !

Western Kentucky University, not Western State University. Good to see a fellow alum on here! Go Tops!
Wonderful! Love it!
She knows and understands true harmony and balance and how each part relates to the other in oneness. A true artist who has no need to show off.
Great addition to my playlist.
I like this song.
cowboywahine
She attended Western Kentucky University (not Western State). GO TOPS!!!
Listen for hints of Erroll Garner in her music...she' s far, far more talented than what appears on the surface. This music never fails for a dinner party background. Her friends Cocktails album is really, really good.
Wondrful, Soulful artist interpertati o n of classic music, i am taken away by her talent.
Please don't damn this artist with faint praise by labeling her work as easy listening jazz. Please. The woman's ability to effortlessly interpret a composition is her strength. How easy it is to listen to just means she knows what the hell she's doing.

Awesome, beautiful music. I will be searching for more of her music.
Beegee is truly the best easy listening Jazz artist! If I ever get back to Tennesse, I going to see her!

Just thought I'd let the person know who wanted to hear her live....she plays quite often at F. Scott Fitzgeralds near Green Hills Mall in Nashville, TN. She really is classy!
I discovered Beegie quite by accident listening to my XM radio in the car. It didn't take me long to look for more of it online, in the stores, and anywhere I could find it. Some of the most relaxing keyboards this side of heaven ! And, I really love piano artistry; Shearing, Garner, Peterson, et al. !! Enjoy, keyboard lovers !!
I could listen to this all night and slow dance to dream land........ r e m a r k a b l e !
OMG.......I want more, more, more of you!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! Where can I hear you live??????

Beegie !! Where have you been all my life ?? Before you, I only listened to Oscar, Art, Teddy and Marian. Now, I have you too. How come it took me 73 years to find you?
.
Really no peers that I am aware of.

She's the one who said something like liking jazz is like falling in love, but never falling out.. Wonderful harmonic sense.. always plays the right thing!
The most smooth and relaxing easy-listeni n g jazz I have ever
encountered. Simply the best! Karl Young
I like this Gal !

In her 70s now and still recording. I wish I had been familiar with her years ago. Her touch is perfect. Never strays too much from the tune, never too many notes or messed up rhythms. Beautiful flow, the definition of elegance. Go Beegie, Go!! She can wing out too, catch her recording of Caravan.

She is great!!!
*Western Kentucky University* Not Western State University. Sorry, I have to rep for my Alma Mater. Beautiful stuff, though.
what a touch..I play stand up bass, i like her best with her trio.
We LOVE Beegie Adair!! I first heard her walking thru Group Health Hospital in Redmond, WA in their gift shop, and knew I had to find out who was playing that FABULOUS piano music!! Since then, We play it at open houses, for dinner parties, and whenever we want to just relax. We have natural triplet grandbabies who listened to her music from the day we brought them home, until just a few months ago, (now 3 yrs old!!). We'd play it for them to calm them when we put them down for naps or for the

Beegie plays with a maturity that only a true master can present. Under her fingers the songs come to life, without pointless harmonic distractions .
