I always wondered the story behind why Joe Cocker changed the music so drastically in his version. The Beatles and Ringo weren't as dramatic as Joe's, but equally effective, and the song seems to progress some in tempo and modulations toward the end. You can tell the number was more of a transition piece in Sgt. Pepper's, but Joe liked it so much he made one of the heaviest classic rock hits and both are still relevant today.
