Cute song! Paul wrote this at 16 years old. Wow. <3 the Beatles

We were so lucky to see them, to hear them, to feel the magic in "64" at the civic center in Baltimore. The songs of love and peace Do you remember fear then? There wasn't any. We lost 2 from the band. John is one person, like so many, you will remember where you were at the moment when he was brutally taking from us.
Sadly this song should be retitled "When I WAS Sixty-Four".
We're all aging as we read this. (you young kids will be tomorrow's 'old fogey')

I read somewhere that Paul wrote this song when he was sixteen years old, just goofing around. He decided to hold on to it, just in case it might be useful for something someday. Funny enough, it was.

sal adelfio... the great thing about the Beatles was their range. In my opinion its why they were such a success and why their music transcends time. If you were a Beatles fan you would like em... bumps, lumps and warts. You would like "When I'm 64" to "Come Together". I love this song!

So different than some other Beatles songs!!! They can be sweet and light, moving, crazy, but they're always great!!!

I LOVE this song. We played it at our wedding reception (during, of course, the cake cutting!) I agree - the Beatles are great because of their variety.

Personally, I think both John and Paul had their weaknesses and strengths as songwriters. Paul got a little corny and schmaltzy at times, but sometimes John tried too hard to be edgy, revolutionary, counter culture. This is why together they were so good, or why they were at their best when they were more like the other (Paul's "Oh! Darling," John's "In My Life"). I like this song. We wouldn't remember or love the Beatles as we do if they hadn't had such a broad & varied discography.
"When I'm 64" ... a nice song, but "muzak" eh? Paul - did you need to make it a Beatle song? You should have sold it to Sinatra or something. John Lennon was right about you - You ARE a sell-out y'know? This is coming from a Beatle fan...The Beatles should have stuck to Rock music, ( a few accoustic songs here and there ). I don't think John like this one...no wonder he wanted out; dealing with McFartney's EGO. Ouch.....
